Chambers Street, by angeline is great!! I feel like I just stepped in Hells Kitchen and had the most amazing slice of pizza. Excellente` Ange, really good writing :)

...
JP brings me Italian nougat candy,
and Andy the retired strong man,
the carny, has two yellow teeth,
and can tear a Manhattan phone book
in half, lift a kitchen chair
with two fingers...

** okay, ya'll dont know why its all underlined, I didnt do that, must be a glitch in the system...

Merci, mon sister. And y'know every character in the poem is (or was) real. My dad had a small coin and stamp shop (in addition to working in a factory), and those people all came in his store. They were quite a bunch of characters and I loved them all. I think I have some more poems in me on that subject. :D

Thank you all who commented and sent feedback--especially the butt pickin monkey, who even poeticizes when he comments, the darn simian.

Yes, dear. It was already on my agenda for this evening. So there! But first I'm off for pad thai. If I comment on an empty stomach I might be mean. :D

Maria, you're too nice
Big thanks to Min, Syn and fly for the comments.
somehow this seems a bit different for Liar
Indeed, it was written under much different circumstances than when I normally write. 8 hours with nothing but pen and paper and a slightly insane muse.

Maria, I wanted to thank you for the "free plug" you gave my poem here, as well as your kind words. I do not pretend to be a poet by any stretch of the imagination; in fact, that was only my second attempt ever at poetry. However, "Reach" was something that just popped in my head on the way to work recently. I got to my desk, wrote it out, reviewed it, and shared it with a few people. They said they liked it (as well as they have some history as to the inspiration for the words), so I gambled and put it here.

Thank you again, and thank you to anyone else who might have read it and/or voted on it. I sincerely appreciate it.

well, stick around, pop in and read some of the wonderfully talented writers that post here. I have learned so very much in such a short time, this is a great learning environment, but remember, we are mostly a bunch of emotional, moody REAL people and we get weird sometimes, if you overlook that, you'll be fine :D

Re: Wednesday's New Poems 8/18

Thanks neo! I'm honoured by your first "N".;)

Thanks also to all who took the time to leave pcs or send feedback. :rose:

Thanks, neo (and commenters) for your good words about my poems. Both are sort of still in progress (something I realized after reading them again today, lol), but anna's moon challenge thread and everyone's poems there are so inspiring--as you pointed out, neo. Reading those poems made me think about how many metaphors--endless it seems--there are for the moon. There's one in almost every poem, it seems sometimes. I'm gonna put it in the "in progress" thread--feel free to put in your two cents. :D

And St. Marks is about St. Marks Church in the Bowery in NYC, where they have the most amazing all-night readings on New Year's Eve. Here's a link to an audio reading of Cheerless Junkie Song by Helen Adam (she's number 6 on the list)--I want to be like her when I'm 70 (a dotty old poet, lol). Check her out; she's quite a character.

I dream about Change

Change will knock on my door
in a starched white collar,
ask me if I accept it as my personal savior,
laugh in my face and invite me
somewhere,
anywhere,

This poem is by a poet I'm not familiar with. I like this. It's different and I think it's worth a read.

Thanks for the mention, but you are familiar with me. At least, a little bit familiar with me. I'm the same ol' poet--just happen to have a new name. Shall I tell you who I am, or do you prefer the fun of guessing? :D We can make it into a mystery: I'll drop you clues in the form of poetry, and you can make guesses in the form of poetry :D

Welcome to the club, Maria!

Here, at Bitch Central, we all do our honest best. Your reviews were wonderful!!

Especially with all those 'puter probs'. :D

Speaking of reviews, today's reviews will not be up until this evening. I normally do them early, but that is not possible today.

But they WILL appear tonight....be patient. :)

What could Possibly be more important than reviews??
Don't you know I have no self image, no esteem, no worth, until one of you mentions my work?

Ofcourse you won't see the genius in it...how could you? I don't even know how good it is myself...so I'll pm you remaining Anon, of course, to protect my integrity, and tell you what a bitch you are.
I can't just sit around and wait to do that...I may come to my senses or,....find a Life or something....
I know!!
I'll go through and give everyone a 1 vote...I have 3 alts so that should take a few hours atleast...
Cool
I'm all set

Ok see you all later

I wanna be a bitch!!

That being said, here's the deal!

I have felt bad many times cuz I hear the need for reviewers and I don't jump in. Here's why...

1) I am not a poet. I do not use poetic language. At this time I am not sure what a cliche, a metaphor, enjambment, etc. even ARE!

2) There are some topics I won't read; and some writers I won't even attempt to read. I don't do incest, r ape, gore (or Planet Gor! LOL)

3) There is no guarantee I would recognize a specific form that someone has worked real hard on.

4) Lots of other nit picky stuff!

5) I did do reviews once back in the dark ages and received not one comment from anyone- good or bad.

But I will try once more if you'll have me. I won't do negative reviews, I am not schooled enough. But I WILL read them all (excluding the aforementioned) and give an honest opinion, ok? If y'all want me let me know when and/or where.

walking away knowing I have just fucked up big time....
