I like good news like that. :D

Its a predator too no less, I am much happier about a predatory animal being re-discovered than say..a mushroom or some shit like that.

I'd sure like to see someone find a dodo....they look cool....and a sabre tooth tiger would be a nice to see in a circus....and a Willy Mammoth....Mastodon too...i

That would explain why no one has seen one in over seventy years.

What age did you admit to?

don't count on it

Naw-except for the dodo they all died off WAAAAY to long ago for their to be even a prayer of a chance of finding them again.

I WOULD like to see the Tasmanian Tiger of Australia found alive in the wild again. Or some of the species of lion that used to inhabit Northern Africa and Europe that were killed off as a result of the Roman Empire using them extensively for gladiatorial games. There are many cool subspecies of tigers and wolves that would be cool to re-discover as well.

Hey Fri------------

it is good news.

But on reading the artivle I almost doubled over from laughter.

We learn that the only reason that they even suspected it's existance is a 70 year old pelt. From that it was deduced to be 'extinct'.

It surely is 'secretive' to have avoided man, successfully I might add, for so long. It also appears to be nocturnal.

Now, either these suckers are extremely long lived, or they've been doing just fine. Having sex, eating small animals, and avoiding man. ANd if that is the case, how damn presumptive is it for the jerk from the Bronx zoo to say, "We now hope to find out more about the animal and thus help ensure its survival."

It seems that it was surviving quite well on it's own. Just how arrogant are these folks anyway?

you beat me to it ishmael. that's exactly what i thought when i read it. if it's been around that long without us knowing about it, leave it the hell alone. it doesn't need our help.

Of course it needs our help!

How else is it going to join the dodo in extiction!

Geez Laurel, now you've really done it.

Aiko must now be removed from your custody, being endangered and all that, and taken to the Bronx zoo for study. Have to find out what it eats, etc. Of course if they guess wrong on the food and it dies, well the autopsy will go a long way in increasing our scientific knowledge.

Or you could just grab the cat and take it on the lamb.

i like to tease about kittens making good trot line bait and all that but i've got to say laurel, that's one kick ass good lookin' cat!
