Exotic undergarments

I had a character in my first story "First Position" become enchanted with a sophisticated corset. I described it as quilted silk, stiffened with bone (?) and closed up the back with lots of tiny hooks. The woman wearing the corset describes it as wonderfully supple, but hard as hell to get into and out of. After a big lunch it would have to be "surgically removed." Naturally it is removed anyway, but now I'm stuck.

I have never had a big fetish for exotic women's attire. I dont know what is out there or how to describe it. It could be important to the story line because the male character has met the corset maker and is planning to call him.

So please, if there are in lovers of ladies undergarments, particularly of the structural variety, talk to me.

undergarments

Hi Pocketrocket,
I tried to contact you in a chatroom the other night. But anyway, just one small comment here..
You put a question mark after the word "bone" in your post. It's my understanding that they were/are made of whalebone. I'm going to do a little research via Google.com in a minute. I'll see if I can find anything out about corsets. If anything of interest shows up, I'll send it to you.
Good Luck and Best Wishes to You!

Please check out my stories and vote. Damn it's hard to get people to do that!
Thanks so much!

You're welcome! Still haven't had time to research our stuff, but will. And I'll check out your writings and vote!!!! Take Care, Kat~

The "bone" used in full corsets was the Baleen from Blue Whales. Later spring steel slats were used but tended to rust. With the baleen (Whale bone) slats this was not a problem. cost however was.

Kat, the question mark after the bone was because the character was not certain that bone was actually used. Neither was the author for that matter. Since the above post indicates that that would be the ideal substance, we'll go with it.

Here is the REAL question, or questions: 1) What other unusual and intricate undergarments would the owner of such a corset also purchase; 2) What would the MAKER of such a corset also make; 3) what would an admirer of such a corset also admire.

Keep it coming. This is interesting.

Pocket,
I understood the reason for the question mark...that's why I said whalebone. As far as the REAL questions are concerned...um..this could be fun.......did you read, The Story of O?
If not.....get it!!!! As I recall, and it's been decades since I've read it, but seems there were some pretty HOT undergarments mentioned in that highly erotic and classic book!!!! There was something about an undergarment that exposed the anus, if I remember correctly and widened it with adjustments, over time, or something like that. Must get that book and read it again. Maybe it was just a device as opposed to an undergarment but you might be able to adapt it to work as an undergarment. Just an idea. Hopefully, someone will read this who has a better memory...I hope.

More details

Kat

I have read it, though not recently. I am not sure that type of thing would work in this context. I am looking for something that a person might wear for themselves. Sheila uses intricate clothing as a form of armor. Things which require patience and delicacy to don and remove are more the speed I need here.

Still, you have a point. This type of thing might be something that Julian might make on commission. Sean is a purist. He likes the craft, not the function.

BTW "Pocket doesn't work for me. PR or J would be fine for short.

I have decided where to use the undergarments. The characters have a mutual dare to meet at "Alberts." This is a SCA (Society for Creative Anacronysm) kind of place. The implication is that they must wear pre 1700 costume of some kind. They will be choosing their own costume, with prior agreement as to general style.

For example, a Kight and a Damsel, A Lord and a Lady, A Minstrel and a Maiden, a Bloke and a Wench, etc. What woould work in this general structure. Dancing is required.

corsets and crinolines

Recently I visited the chateau of Rigny-Usse in France, where the rooms are populated with mannequins dressed in 19th-century garments. Most of the woman are corsetted, and generally are wearing crinolines under their dresses.

The desire to have a "wasp waist" was obviously injurious to a woman's bone structure, and fortunately corsets are out of fashion.

Thanks Sonia

That was very informative. What I described in the story is not a true corset--no laces. Under the circumstances, a true corset might be just the thing. Use it with a Louis XV era gown. He would need a sword. Interesting.

How would a classic "Men are out to enslave women" feminist react? This has possibilities.

Thanks
