Executive order to end the Dept. Of Education

When I have a problem with something someone has said, I find that mental ignore works amazingly well. Call me crazy but to engage in discussion with someone who will never see your viewpoint as valid is the very definition of insanity. That said, it can be a nice dopamine hit when you think you've put them in their place.
LOL. That's not crazy. That's the sanest thing anyone here has said in a while.

We don't really engage in discussion here. In general, we have two sets of opposing viewpoints and we tweak each other, knowing that whatever we say will provoke the other side into a response, and we almost always know what that response will be. Personally, I enjoy it, but certainly don't try to "discuss" with someone whom I know I will never persuade to change their mind. It'd be a complete waste of time.

Instead, I prefer to tweak, make fun of, and otherwise amuse myself. And I certainly don't mind anyone doing the same to me. All part of the entertainment offered by this Board. And absolutely agree that the dopamine hits are great. LOL. Something we can agree on!

I shall do my best to give you another hit asap!

Make another orgasm thread about your guy.

And we know what a great job Mississippi has done.
I don’t really care one way or another but the DOE is just a very large inflated department that simply tried to coordinate what the states are doing. There is no need for such a large department. It won’t be dismantled - if I am a betting man, it rather will be stripped down to essential functions including funding coordination.

I have several friends who worked at the DOE as attorneys. It was a place where law students with connections in government went to sit for a while before they moved on to real jobs. I know rhat sound harsh. I think that cutting the fat out of such a bloated department isn’t necessarily bad.

Brothers and sisters, turn in your Project 2025 Bible to chapter 11 Department of Education page #319. We will close the Department of Education down and return the controls back to the states and families. Getting rid of anything woke. Restoring religious liberty. We’ll bring back separate but equal schools. There will be only boys or girls bathrooms. More books will be banned in school libraries.

Can I get an amen? 🙏

It’s amazing that your friends at the DOE had no idea what their job was.

At present its functions are:
  • Establishing policies on federal financial aid for education and distributing as well as monitoring those funds.
  • Collecting data on America's schools and disseminating research.
  • Focusing national attention on key issues in education, and makes recommendations for education reform.
  • Prohibiting discrimination and ensuring equal access to education.
Nothing needless. Nothing that isn't worth the money. And nothing the states could do better

Yeah it’s the last function that most lawyers engage in at the DOE. Lately it was charging universities and k-12s with Title IX violations.

Trump's pick for SOE, Linda McMahon, had her confirmation hearing today.

Former professional wrestling exec and billionaire GOP donor Linda McMahon faced tough questioning—and scattered protests—on Thursday during her confirmation hearing to head an Education Department that President Donald Trump is keen on abolishing.

During two-and-a-half hours of questioning (and opining) by senators, McMahon attempted to thread the needle between Trump’s plans to gut the 45-year-old US Department of Education and federal laws and constitutional guardrails that stand in his (and Elon Musk’s) way. Even as she expressed support for key Trump policies—including private-school voucher programs and bans on trans girls and women from sports—McMahon’s scant experience in education was on display as she misstated, or failed to answer key questions about, federal education law.

Mcahon, who was head of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term, is best known for her role at World Wrestling Entertainment, which she co-founded and ran with her now-estranged husband, Vince. Her experience in education is limited: She earned a teaching certificate in college and was a student teacher for a semester. She served for a year on the Connecticut Board of Education, resigning in 2010 after the Hartford Courant found that she’d claimed an education degree she never obtained. She has spent more than a decade as a trustee of a private Catholic university. She also ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate in 2010 and 2012.

As board chair of the ultra-conservative American First Policy Institute, McMahon now oversees a think tank that supports education-related policies including universal school-choice programs, parental review of all school curriculum, and removal of so-called “gender ideology” and “political activism” from coursework. If confirmed, she says she will boost support for technical schools and vocational programs and ban the teaching of critical race theory—all while emphasizing that education policy is best left to states and local school districts.

Isn't the Senate going to reject any of these idiots?!

The future of our government and country. Kakistocacy, the government run by incompetent idiots.

‘Trump claims he is speaking for millions of parents supposedly clamoring for education to be “run by the states.” The reality is he represents a filthy rich oligarchy that wants to privatize schools and transfer billions from public coffers to Wall Street.‘

Trump signs executive order directing the closure of the US Department of Education

sad day and even sadder when he uses children as props. he needs his cult followers at a room temp IQ. some of them are on the PB.

Education is already run by the states. Trump can only lie to low information voters.
And the absence of substantial funding [including low income areas], protective civil rights regulations, oversight, with diminished college access, increased state and local burden and a patchwork of educational standards, etc. — none of this will adversely affect public education … 🤦‍♂️

Trump ‘…failed to mention his plan for universal vouchers to carry out mass privatization of schools.’

‘The policy does not simply divert resources from public schools; it actively redistributes wealth upward, allowing high-income earners to exploit tax loopholes while working class families are left with underfunded public schools.’

‘The voucher system would double as a tax shelter for the ultra-rich. The plan allows for donations of stock instead of cash. Donors avoid capital gains taxes when stocks increase in price, then receive a tax credit for the full amount of the stock price come tax time.’

Trump’s school voucher plan: A billion-dollar tax shelter for the ruling elites

‘This corporate welfare masquerading as school choice will not improve education for working class families. It will simply allow the elite to extract even more wealth from the public sector.’

Be aware of the narrative-reality discrepancy.
