Everything Basketball 2023-24

Thought I’d start a basketball thread seeing as I couldn’t find one.

The Celtics went to 4-0 tonight with a 51 point win over Indiana 155-104.

Also RIP Bobby Knight.

Thanks for starting this thread. Whew, I really had to change my train of thought... lol.
'This' is not what I had been thinking about at all during my naughty Lit browsing (lol)... but yeah, I'm pretty geeked up for the new season.

I'm kind of hot on the Clippers again. Feels like it could be kind of boom or bust though. I'm not accustomed for pulling for teams that Harden has been on particularly, but I guess I will be now (lol)... and I've always thought that he was one hell of a player. Kawhi has probably got to be my favourite player (along with Giannis) in the whole damn league... and I'd luv to see him healthy, and winning 'another' title. Paul George has always seemed underrated to me, in spite of his accolades... always thought he was a damn fine player in Indy and OKC. And then there's Russ... would luv to see him dominant again. I'm surprised he's been somewhat polarizing, because I've always really enjoyed how he plays. So yeah, I'm kind of hot for the Clip Show, at least this evening. Still hoping for the Raptors and Bucks though...
(P.S. As a Bucks fan, I think that your Celtics made a big score by getting Holliday. Congratulations.)

And no, I hadn't heard about Bobby Knight. I was actually just talking about him with someone this afternoon... and it had nothing to do with his passing, of which I was unaware. (I was talking about how much I liked Isiah Thomas, my second favourite player as a kid, and talking about his college days... so of course Knight's name came up.)

Honestly didn't realize that I was this enthusiastic for the basketball season... lol.
I've watched a couple Raptors games, but still haven't gotten fully into it yet. (Been watching 'way' too much hockey.)
Thanks for starting this fun thread, CarlyAnn!

You’re very welcome….I’ll have to see if there is a hockey thread. Go Bruins. 🙂

Uh-oh, now we might have a problem... lol. I was raised by Habs fans, indoctrinated before I even knew what was going on.
(Although as an adult, I tend to watch way more of the western conference or Pacific division games for some reason.)
I realize that I "should" give you a hard time about the Bruins, but that's not really how I feel about sports. I'm no fun... lol. I luv hockey so much, that even the teams that I'm supposed to be against are filled with guys that I really like. For example... Bergeron, Bourque, and Chara are among my all-time favourite players. You've got a great team there! So I wish your boys good health and good luck for the coming season. But a bit less 'luck' when they're going against the Oilers or Habs...

Same goes for your Celtics. Best of luck, sincerely (as I quite like the team they've got)... But less 'luck' against the Raps or Bucks!

James Hardin now with his 5th team and he keeps on being James Hardin, blaming the team for his troubles.

Seems to be true, sadly. And I'm genuinely rooting for him to turn over a new leaf.
He's had such a great career, in most respects. However, some "patterns" have certainly been established.
And what you're referring to seems to keep happening, over and over again. It's really too bad...

Celtics win again, 124-114 over Brooklyn and are now 5-0 (3-0 on the road). Next game is on Monday vs. the Timberwolves.

Relegated to watching Wizards @ Hornets tonight,eh the Hornets might not be THAT bad this year. Friend of mine has courtside seats tonight and I think I spotted them. ;)

Celtics lose the first of four meetings with the 76ers 106-103. They trailed by 15 with 3:45 left in the game and missed the last shot of the game that would have tied it.

Boston hosts Brooklyn on Friday night.

Oh BTW they are still bad,a 132-116 loss last night.Sigh........

The Celtics beat Brooklyn for the 2nd time in 7 days. 121-107 tonight. Not sure I’m understanding this In-Season Tournament but Boston is 1-0. Not sure I even WANT to understand it. Lol

It's just a futile attempt by the NBA to drum up more interest in a meaningless 82 games?!?! Who really give a rat's ass about this in season or whatever you call it tournament. No one!?!

We all know the regular season is there to pad up the owner's wallets so they can pay someone averaging 4 points a game, $7 million a year for the next 3 years 😳?!?!

Boston over Toronto 117-94 to go to 7-2. They host the Knicks on Monday night.

Boston over the 76ers 117-107 for first place in the Conference. The Celtics were without Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis in this one. Each team has won one game this season with the remaining two games to be played in Boston.
