under the guise of 'guidance' to schools

The attorney general of Idaho issued an opinion telling schools not to allow teachers to post signs that say “Everyone is Welcome Here,” claiming that the message that public education is for everyone regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or other categories is Democratic in nature and therefore illegally partisan.
“These signs are part of an ideological/social movement which started in Twin Cities, Minnesota, following the 2016 election,” Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador (R) said in guidance issued to a school. “Since that time, the signs have been used by the Democratic party as a political statement.”

teachers have been made to take down posters showing this phrase, including one showing an image of hands that display the spectrum of skin colours and another which had a background of rainbow colours.

The attorney general determined that these specific signs would violate H.B. 41 and claimed that the statements in the signs are part of a political movement and not, as defenders of the signs argued, generally agreed-upon beliefs about the nature of public education.
as this teacher puts it best:
“I don’t agree. I don’t agree that this is a personal opinion,” she told KTVB at the time. “I feel like this is the basis of public education.”

The conflict centers on Idaho’s H.B. 41, which took effect last week and bans school employees from displaying flags or banners that show “opinions, emotions, beliefs or thoughts about politics, economics, society, faith or religion.”
how will they balance this with that whole ten commandments thingy?

another which had a background of rainbow colours.

IS POLITICAL!

IS POLITICAL!
How so?

I'll try to give an honest answer.

I've been following this story for a while, and the problem, basically, is this: In Idaho, racism, bigotry and hate is now considered to be an equally valid opinion as anti-racism, tolerance and acceptance. They caved to the bigots who who complained about the poster originally, because in Idaho, racist ideology is now on equal footing with anti-racist/inclusiveness ideology. So you can't ban one without banning both.

People complained to the school board because they didn't want their white kids attending school with non-whites, the school board listened, and were sympathetic to it. And they took it to a sympathetic state house.

But the problem is, racism and hate should NEVER have become an acceptable alternative view. These are not political views, they are sociopathic, hateful, and anti-humanistic views, and are NEVER political views. Not in a healthy society anyway. Basically, people in Idaho failed to stand up to the bigots, and allowed them a disproportionate share of public discourse. Meanwhile the state attorney general is an outspoken white supremacist himself, as are many folks in the state house- keep in mind this is only a partial list: State reps. Heather Scott, Bruce Skaug, Dan Foreman, Jaron Crane, and party chairman Dorothy Moon.

Idaho has always been a haven for bigots. It's gotten much worse, needless to say, since 2016. This is just a symptom of it. Keep in mind that in the 1950's, this was the situation in much of the country, but until the last decade or so, America was progressing past these Jim Crow attitudes.

When was the last time you were actually in a school? Lol. :)

Because it's DEI and racism all rolled up in pretty colors and fed to innocent children.

SCHOOL is for learning how to read, write, and do math. It's not intended to be a indoctrination center for social change. Which is why that shit ain't allowed.

You couldn't do that if you tried.

Jesus fucking Christ you stupid fucking MAGAtard. Way back in the 70's we were taught how to be nice to each other in school. Even had a conduct grade on our report cards. That was probably social engineering to old fucktards like you even back then.

Teaching children to respect one another, regardless of ethnicity or background, is not "Indoctrination for social change."

It is teaching common manners, and common RESPECT.

Something you obviously lack, Mr.PinkHobbyHorse (or whatever the fuck your newest handle is.)

Lemme guess; you were one of those kids who went around yelling racial slurs at other kids, and then got pissed because the teachers gave you detention for it. It might explain why you obviously failed to finish high school....

It is absolutely indoctrination. That is what societies do. We indoctrinate. This is no different from saying the pledge at the beginning of the school day or those 90's cartoons that would end with Sonic telling you that if someone touches you're bathing suit areas tell an adult. Its not magically not indoctrination because you agree with the goal.

Great, when you start "teaching children to respect one another" let me know.

Meanwhile, the social change indoctrination pogrom ends.
