For those of us all trying to lose a little weight come here to share your triumphs and tribulations.

Red can be the poster girl :D

I've lost just over a kilo this last week which, I am reliably informed, is about 3lbs. So I'm a very happy Vermilion :)
I miss toast though... and pasta. agh.

YAY for you!! 3lbs is great! Man, it is hard work though. Are you using a low carb diet?

I run a lot but no progress in the weight loss area...though my clothes are getting QUITE loose.

I was 230 pounds when I started my martial arts classes back three and a half years ago. After a while, I dropped down to 215, but still had a rather large protruding belly (I looked about five months prenant). Then, after a few injuries, and not being able to keep up with my workouts, I gained back the 15 pounds I lost :( However, this latest sickness that I have, has had the pleasing effect of dropping me back down to 220 pounds. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if I only lost muscle weight :(

Well... it's kind of a caveman diet. If you could find it pre-agriculture then we're allowed to eat it. So potatos and root veg is fine, as are rice, millet seed and other wholegrains, but flour and similarly processed products aren't. It's not too bad to stick to, actually and it ensures that all weight-loss is fat, not muscle, because it's high protein.

We're also not eating dairy, but I'm finding that surprisingly easy considering my cheese and milk addiction. Another plus is I've ompletely stopped snoring and we're able to sleep in the same bed again without me waking the Fiance all night.

I'm allowing myself a few fragments of 85% cocoa solids chocolate each day though - I don;t think I'd be worth knowing if I didn't. I certainly wouldn't be abl to stick to the diet.

I lost two pounds last week. I'm pretty sure it was from all the hoeing I did.

Being a ho is a great way to lose weight, and you get to lie down most of the day...

Oh! you mean gardening?!
Doh ;)

I can;t exercise much cos of my poor health and exams coming up, but I'm trying to increase activity levels a little bit because every little counts.

I have been doing weight watchers for about 3 months. I had lost 9.4kg - then I went on holidays and put 2 back on! So this week it's back to portion control and tracking what I eat...and I'm going to have to start exercising :(
I have to say though, it is pretty easy - there is nothing you can't eat, you just have to watch the portion size. I do miss cheese though - a portion of cheese is only about 30gm, not much when you are a cheese freak.

I've actually found it easier to cut out cheese entirely :)

hahaha! I used to get all my exercise that way, but it's only of the gardening variety now. ;)

I'm just lazy, that's my whole problem. I have to make myself move. My new plan for exercise is to make things less convenient for myself. I hang out laundry, park further from the store, make more trips than necessary downstairs, etc...yeah, it's really annoying. Otherwise, I'd just be having picnics with the dogs and frequent naps. I would've made a great Victorian lady.

I find cycling is good - the downhill sections trick you into thinking you're getting the speed-thrills for free (mind you, the uphills are a bitch. Great for the arse though...)

You cut the cheese?

I'm no longer actively trying to lose ... just to maintain & stay fit. It's become a lifestyle for me, though, so it requires little effort.

I've actually lost a few pounds, I think, but I don't know how many cuz I detest scales. It's interesting but it's partly the anti-depressants that are doing it (everyone told me I'd gain on them)- I'm not emotional eating anymore and I'm hungry lots less than I was before. Also working on Logo's house has really gotten me active. I'm just hoping I can stay active once we get all that work done.

Start working on your house? :D

I'm only allowing myself to get on the scales once a week or I'd get all obsessional about it (been there, done that - it's bad) besides which it fluctuates hour to hour and day to day. It was starting to get to the point where I needed to lose weight for my health and cutting out dairy has, like I said, had additional health benefits - I sleep better now I've stopped snoring.
Luckily I'm still allowed to eat chips(English stylie) and mayonnaise (no dairy in mayo - yum) so that's my treat when I start getting all 'I'm on a diet' y.

ps y'all see why I started a thread for this now? I didn;t wanna piss people off by yakking (sp?) on about food and diets etc etc on other threads. I need to get down from my current waist measurement of 36" to about 30" to be healthy (I think) - not to mention fit in the glorious wedding dress I found the other day and bought even though it's tiny and I'll probably have to get the bodice let out even if I get down to that size anyway.

This is weight loss season for me. Starting now, I lose 2lbs a week until late September. And then I'll gain it all again during fall and winter.

And I'm not working on it. No different diet or anything (staying off the fires and the pringles anyway). Neither the gain or loss. I think it's just that I get really passive during the dark months, and move about more in the spring and summer.

This is the first time I've actually been able to keep a healthy eating habit for more than half a day. I've resolved not to snack so much anymore, to stay away from anything cream and cheesek and just generally to eat smaller portions. I also started to drink only water - I don't like water very much, but I know that it's very important. I started on April 27th and so far have gone down from 150.2 to 146.2 - so exactly 4 lbs. Yes, I do chart my progress daily - it really helps me. It fluctuates, but there is an obvious downward trend that I'm proud of. I've started to notice that I feel better about myself, that it's gotten a lot easier to resist the snacking urge, and that I feel full a lot faster than I used to.

I also try to take walks or do some other form of physical exercise, although I don't manage that every day.

So, I think for never having been able to diet at all (because I don't have any willpower) this isn't too bad. I'm really proud of myself, and the encouragement I get from actually seeing my weight go down for the first time helps me stick to it.

Although today will be a bit of an exception since I get a birthday dinner... I'll allow myself a little bit of unhealthy stuff. Tiny portions though, I promise.

Hey, I started taking hip hop dance lessons last night. great fun dancing and it gets your heart rate up. gotta suffer through some less than stellar music but still it was fun.

I still didn't count it as replacing my run though...probably not untill I can "dance" for longer stretches of time.

That sounds like a great idea. I should do something like that. I haven't gotten in the excercise I should since I had to stop playing rugby, and I need to find a good alternative.

I ought to take up hula-hooping or have another shot at Belly Dancing - they're meant to be great for slimming the waist I believe...

I tried the hula hoop.... It makes a nice belt.... now how do I get it off....

Funny thing is I only weight about 25 pounds more than I did in high school... The problem is my ass and that 25 pounds have migrated to my belly.... What with men getting older and their asses disappearing....

Yeah, that's me, pretty much. I always put some on over the winter, but lose some during the warmer months. I think it's because cooked food just isn't all that appetizing when the temp is hitting close to 100 F every day, and the humidity hovers around 80%. This is when I start living on fresh fruit and salads, not for health reasons, but because it's all I can handle eating.

How dare you kick me out? :p

No, seriously, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've been losing weight for no reason. I eat like a pig and yet the scale always reads less every time I check.
