I went to Kalgoorlie on the weekend.
Had heaps of fun. Now I got my truck drivers license this year.So I can go back to Kal and learn to drive one of these. They always have work for new trainees and they earn 80K a year.
The 1st pic is the gold mine. Its called the Superpit. You can just see the little trucks going up and down the ramps.
The 2nd pic is the actual truck going down the main street on sunday for their annual parade. The driver was a girl.
Theres 35 pubs in town and men outnumber the women 5 to 1.
I am seriously considering it.

Looks cool. Looks like something my stepdad would love. When we first moved to Missouri T took us out to see the sites. We stopped to see BigFoot (for those that dont' know - THE monster truck) and then he wanted to go home. As far as he was concerned there wasn't anything else to see. )

The whole town was so friendly, and it has a frontier feel and its in the desert which I love. The history of the place was amazing. At the turn of the century it was one of the biggest cities in the country and very cosmopolitan.
Another unique fact is that prostitution has always been tolerated there, and the working girls are treated as normal women, and can ply their trade in the "red light area" safely and free of harassment.. Its generally accepted that they are providing a service, paying taxes, are an added attraction to the town. The brothel madams are spoken of highly and respected as business women. Even one was on the town council back in the 90's. I think thats pretty cool.

Wow, that is cool.

I've always heard only good things about Kalgoorlie, and from what I gauge of your personality from your posts and few PM's, I think it could be just the place for you to hang your hat, at least for awhile. LOL, hey, just the male to female ratio is enough to make many a red blooded Aussie girl wet and ready for adventure!! Like you, I love the desert and the thought of it being frontier like in its character. Hmmm, could we all descend on the town for a Lit gettogether perhaps? :D

Scary thought. I actually freaked a lot of guys out ( can you believe it! a little girl like me) and didnt even mention bdsm at all. If some of the lit folk hit town they would bolt for the hills! I told one guy he was so postcard cute, and with those perfect teeth, hard body and baby blue eyes he would be a man magnet at mardi gras, and would he like to come with us in March...the look of terror on his face made us spray our beer all over the bar. When the thought occured to him that we might be therefore lesbians, ( this took a few minutes too) he bought the next 5 rounds.
The only male I was really attracted to in a big way was a viking, fresh off the plane from sweden. When he kissed me goodnight, he lifted me off my feet literally. 6'5" and his skin was so soft. ( melting at the memory) My friend said she thought I had finally met my sexually aggressive match. heh heh.
Am serious tho, I even brought the real estate guide home....

That's a really... really... really big truck! Wow!

It all sounds pretty cool, except I'd be too chicken to drive anything that big. :)

Sounds like the town of Leadville, CO back in the 1970's. I worked at the moly mine and the men outnumbered the women 9 to 1. For some reason the women all carried guns.

I have already booked a contract at the local hospital for feb. Can sort out the other stuff when I get there. Apart for the gun license, which will be trickier.
Wouldn't mind training to be a powder monkey either.

Sounds like it's for you...
As for the title. which is the reason I looked in this thread, yes, all the time.
Most teachers do.

I couldn't imagine myself teaching. I did work experience at the local primary and taught sunday school for a coupla years.( my mother thought it would be character building. It did show me that teaching wasn't for me and the importance of birthcontrol) So you have my sympathy.
I have changed employers, towns and different fields of nursing, and am still dissatisfied. The opportunity is there for a complete change and I cant pass it up this time.

Am I missing something here? Where's the pictures?

Yeah, we mostly don't actually change, but we think about it ALL the time.
You think, "Why am I here?" and "I went through five years of university for this?" and the like. My kids have already learned that when I stop talking and sit down at my desk with my hands rubbing my temples, they need to find something quiet to do and fast. It doesn't matter if it's work as long as they SHUT UP for five minutes. Then class will continue as normal.

As for the pictures, that is a very pretty place. you must be very excited.
