Journey of the Vega

It was known as the last grande boundary that faced the human species as a whole.

It is 2219AD, a joint group of scientists and military personel onboard the Vega prepare for a monumental journey into a Black Hole.

The mission dealt with and within the time and matter continuum, to explore and discover what was on the other side of a black hole. What is on the other side of the event horizon?

Come explore, come experience the mission, the journey to the other side. This is a thread for people who have wondered at the mysteries of the universe and our role within the cosmos.

If people are interested they can post either military or civilian or scientific roles. A maximum of 10 to a minimum of 4 roles. If you want to play yourself, you may.

Ugly Clichie? Honestly I feel this is a fairly good sci-fi idea. Although I always thought the idea of a Black hole going some where was bull. It was originally posted by Steve hawking but he has since then reworked it into an idea I find much more likely, I actully have a particular fondness for it do to it's similarity to my own work with infinitie. So even though I think this is impossible, I'm going to come up with a character and tag along I think.

More thread information

This thread is far from a cliche. Next to alien contact, black holes and the questions and mysteries they pose intrigues me to no end.

My earliest interest in Black Holes stemmed from reading an Indic script called Ramathrura for a school project. At the end of Ramathrura the 'learned ones' left this dimension of space and time through a hole in the heavens (or known now as space).

This thread is not based on a movie or book but is based on the what if's? The probabilities of what does lay beyond the event horizon? Is it nothingness? Is it infinity? Or does the Black Hole lead to a new unknown dimension where we have yet to travel?

The thread begins just before the actual mission into the Black Hole. The Vega is a scout ship, holding a maximum of 10 people with two holding bays for cargo, a crew commons, the command bay and three greenhouse and finally two tanks of water. The ship is self automated and sentient. Commands are spoken to the ship and the commands are executed only by the Commander and or the military personel.

If people want to create background logs of how they joined the mission which is code named The Trinitum Mission, they can. I will post a character brief soon.

43 yrs old.
Blonde Hair, Brown Eyes


Captain Vance has had a long and distinguished tour of service in the Terran Space Navy.

Even while attending the Academy in Moscow, Idaho, he was observed by his superiors to be a fast and an exceptionaly agressive officer.

He was selected for early promotion after his midshipman cruise after his personal bravery was made apparant while participating in a boarding of a slave ship and capturing it.

During his navy carrer he has cross trained with the Terran Space Navy's SEALS teams, attended the War College in Damascus, Syria were people at the O-5 (commander) rank go for polishing into O-6 (captain), and has commanded a light cruisor which participated in several actions on the frontier defending planets from raiders, hunting them down and stealthed scouting into other race's territory.

He has been assigned to Naval Inteligence as a roving analyst and troubleshooter for the past 2 years.

Assigning him to this mission was the brainchild of his patron, Admiral Reynolds, the Chief Of Naval Opperations. Reynolds wants someone he trusts on this mission to give him an unbiased report of what is beyond the event horizon.

Captain Vance is not married, and has not had much time for relationships.

In five years, when he retires, Captain Vance knows exactly were he will be....
Sitting on Alpha Centauri, consulting with the naval staff HQ their, and spending the rest of his time spending his mutual fund on women, whiskey and...well, maybe some food if its necessary...

Marika Barrinton

Age: 29

Position: Civilian Ship's Psychologist/Counselor

Description: On the petite side, 5'4", 120 lbs, dark brown hair, brown eyes, always presents a professional appearance.

Background: The only daughter of a professional couple, Marika grew up knowing her parent's jobs came first. In fact, she discovered early on that she was an unplanned child and that her birth had briefly interrupted her mother's career as a scientist at one of the universities. Her father is a computer analyst for the military.

Having grown up almost exclusively around other caretakers, Marika has become as career oriented as her parents. Graduatiing college with honors in her chosen field, she has made a name and reputation for herself in a short span of time. It is this professional reputation that has gotten her onto the crew list. In fact, her list of sucesses include dealing with the aftermath of those captured aboard the slave ship that Captain Vance had boarded.

Often seen as cold, Marika immerses herself in her profession and very rarely takes time for personal relationships. Her assignment on this mission is to study the crew's reaction to the unknown and to offer assistance with any stressful situation that arises. She is on call at all hours for any concern of the crew and plans on submitting her findings to a Psychology Journal upon her return from this mission.

Humm, up to you, really. I should have cleared it with you first, sorry. *blushes*

I was just thinking that she was dealing with the aftermath...whether your char was part of that aftermath is up to you. She could have just been assigned to tend to those captured by the slavers and someone else deal with any of the crew that was in the raid.

Or they could have crossed paths, my char thinking yours needed help but he refused or she gave him a hard time or something about the way the raid was conducted..

Lots of possibilities...we can explore them if you like.
