The Chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee says that Donald Trump should back away from his plan to go after GOP lawmakers who voted to impeach him, POLITICO reports.
"He can do whatever he wants," Tom Emmer (R-MN) said. "But I would tell him that it's probably better for us that we keep these people and we make sure that we have a majority that can be sustained going forward."
Speaking to POLITICO's Playbook, Emmer said that he'll likely talk to Trump about the matter soon.
During his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) this weekend, Trump hinted that he'll get involved in primaries in 2022 to punish GOP lawmakers who voted to impeach him, saying he wants to "get rid of them all."
He didn't understand that about Georgia. He's unlikely to understand that about any other election campaign. Personal revenge (attempts) take precedence. He has no ability to understand why they shouldn't.
