crime explosion over the next few months.
And it's all down to the Euro. In the coming weeks as the Euro for the first time becomes part of the purchasing power of the man in the street criminals are apparantly going to have a boom time.
Boom No1: As old notes and coins are transported for destruction they will become prime targets for hijackings. Although the new currency will be in force, there is a phase out period where old currencies will still be valid. Old currencies will also be sent for destuction in stages, leaving some in circulation, and therefore still holding their face value and legality. More legal money on the road equals more robberies.
Security firms throughout Europe have already recruited thousands of new employees and are looking for more.
Boom No2: As the new currency begins to circulate and is still unfamiliar to most people forgeries will be hard to spot. Security measures are in place but in the early months millions of Euros are expected to be forged.
Spain is a prime spot to get rid of the old currencies. As the country's building boom continues unabated properties are being snapped up for cash and making a healthy increase in value almost immediately as the criminal fraternity begins buying in earnest and properties become scarcer.
Boom No. 3: European police forces still acting as separate units of their national countries are expecting the European gangs to go through a series of mergers in order to act as a more co-ordinated unit than at present. The co-ordination is expected to improve efficiency leaving the national police forces no choice but formalise their current voluntary co-operation. But they will still be playing "chase up".
Well, they said it wouldn't be easy to create a new country!
Whatever is happening in Europe at the moment it sure is exciting...
