Eugene Goodman: HERO!

yeah, for sure... he led them down the corridor away from the entrance to the senate/house where they'd have been able to get at their targets

did you watch the cnn special last night on the insurrection? they showed footage in there that hasn't been shown before and, damn, it was really frightening stuff... gave a much better sense of the violence of the external crowd pushing in. previous coverage gave the impression (to me) of more sporadic violence, but the wider angle shots showed a raging mob pushing and shoving... very crowded, very loud, the air filled with shouts and profanities, the vileness of the things being said, the calls for pence's lynching, the attacks on police and staff... man, really really bad stuff.

Yes, this is what a true hero looks and acts like along with many other Capitol police and secret service that day!

He drew those racist Fascists away...!

Butters,
It seems like every day I’m seeing some additional footage. The more that I see the more disturbing it gets! Hard to overstate just how fucked up this all was, and on so many levels.

That poor man could have been killed by those savage animals. More of them should have been mowed down, but some of his cop buddies were too busy looking cute, posting selfies.

Sickest day in modern history, all MAGAts should be considered social pariahs now.

I think it bears repeating that this lone man, is black, facing a mob of amped up white supremacists and conspiracy theory crazies, armed with nothing more than a baton. I think most of would have been peeing our pants right about then, and he may have been. Still, the man made quick decisions and did his duty to defend our United States Senators... and he did so at tremendous peril to his own life.

I hope that in our collective shock and disgust at what the terrorist mob did, we can also take note of some of the acts of heroism that also occurred that sad day. As bad as things were, we all know they could have been far worse if not for the key actions of a number of individuals. I’m thankful to all of them.
