If that's what your Internet connection is then yes. If not no.

Click on:

It will tell you the brand of modem and its speed - 14.4, 28.8, or 56K. use that number.

Do determine if you have cable, DSL, etc.

Click:

easier way

CB... heres an easier way..

1) Do you have a telephone line running to your computer and do you need to dial up to get a internet connection?

2) Do you have your televison cable running to your computer?

3) Do you have a box near your computer or the phone line that runs a cable to your computer?

If you are trying to download files from nappy... its best to say 56K... that way you won't get bumped and if you have faster they won't kill you connection band width...

Trust me

That's a CAT5 cable, so you probably have a DSL connection which is one of the options along with 14.4, 28.8, etc.

I have a fiber-optic connection (similar to DSL) and for the hell of it selected 14.4 on Napster. It had no effect on my download speed and like you said it's what other subscribers see.

CB

Hey CB,
You are hooked up to the LAN at school set you Napster for less than cable because you won't get a true cable speed.. I don't have Napster so I can really tell you what to set it to exactly but it might be around ISDN or so. Hope this helped. Check whith some of the computer science majors in your dorm and see if they know for sure..
Matt
