A rookie police officer brand new to the force, suspects his neighbour is a high class escort, he likes her so he ignores it. One day the Escort neighbor gets into trouble when a stalker follows her home, her BF isn't home. She yells for help, he rushes in and sees her being strangled and being assaulted so you shoot the guy to death. The man you kill is the chief of Police. Rookie guy is cleared of any wrong doing by internal affairs that now uncovers a string of corruption under the chief. Rookie guy and the now former escort form an unusual relationship.

If you wanted to go down a thriller road with this: I think IRL that cop would be framed for whatever the police chief did. If they were closer in rank it'd be different but that's how i see it.

I disagree because it depends on what the chief did. There is rank and file small time corruption, then there is senior commander high scale city wide corruption that requires a high rank to facilitate. It's actually the opposite of what you're saying. Let's say it's missing money from the police budget. It'd be the chief his Assistant chief or deputy chiefs with access to that not a patrolman. You'd need to be more senior to fit the type of corruption a police chief of a 5K-10K person police force could access.

-The string of corruption means it goes back far, rookie is brand new to the force remember. He's been there for like weeks or a month. The six months training at the county police college won't count.

- My thinking is that this was about money, the chief loves women so much he has two ex wives he's paying alimony to, plus a current wife and kids in college. Plus he likes nice things expensive watches art a big house, expensive escorts. His salary is high but not high enough, so he embezzles millions from the police budget, and into a secret anti terror task force that doesn't exist.

-The investigation into his raping of the escort & his murder would lead to this other crime being uncovered.

Before the Chiefs corruption is outed I can imagine that they'd want to cover up the murder/rape to protect the departments image. Say he shot himself or something.

Actually the use of deadly force wasn't warranted in this situation unless the Chief was armed, which he probably was, but the rookie didn't know at the time. He should have just pulled the 'man' off the woman and held him at gun point until backup arrived or until he found out it was his Chief and what was going on. Either way, killing the intruder was unwarranted.

And heaven help us if the Chief is black. ;)

Okay, I didn't mention that originally but in my mind he has a knife to her throat.

I'll leave race out of this, I don't want this turning political, just a story idea.

I see him warning the intruder, him then seeing the knife, and the intruders unwillingness to de-escalat. The intruder is then shot in the head through his mouth once, like if it was a suicide. ;) Lucky shot!

I see her bleeding as well like she had been stabbed or her throat slightly cut.

If the Police Chief was in uniform, wouldn't he have his service weapon on him? So of course he is armed. He could still have a knife, too, of course.

I think it's an interesting story idea, but I don't see it getting very erotic. And if it does get erotic, isn't that going to distract from the crime drama?

I don't see the Chief in Uniform but if he was in uniform that would add to the intenseness of the standoff. I saw the chief wearing a wool blazer with his pants hanging around his feet. Actually I might have the Chief slip and stab or shoot himself himself in the head lol. So he might have a gun now, might be in uniform what ever flows.

-(EROTIC) it's not naturally erotic, but I did see the rookie comforting her, them eventually becoming a couple.

- the force would cover up the shooting and make it look like the chief committed suicide.

I'd come up with an initial catalyst besides assault and choking. It's an emotionally strong set up and it has been done many times. Stalking has been done to death too. If you use either of those tropes, try to put an unusual spin on it.

I also think it would up the ante if the rookie cop did not get cleared of wrong doing right away. That actually feels a lot more realistic, considering how police work. They'd probably murder one of their own for committing the ultimate taboo, even if by accident.

That was very helpful and true, I'll consider your advice if I move forward with this.

For sure. Don't get me wrong, I've slipped into that old rut too. I think though, you have the set up for interesting sexy thriller here. I think if the cop "rescues" the escort than it shows that he's "good" which is necessary for the story. It's even better if this gets him in hot water with his own department somehow.

It might be something as simple as "Good Cop" confronting another who is seizing the escort's cash via civil forfeiture or something.

I'm busy writing a "cop" story too, so I'm just rambling.

Okay, I didn't mention that originally but in my mind he has a knife to her throat.

So, he wasn't choking her, he was... what? Trying to get information from her? He was just trying to scare her?

And the shot through the mouth, really a TV ploy, seen it on a lot of cop drama's... lately Chicago PD comes to mind.

If the knife came out during the confrontation with the rookie, I could see the woman maybe getting a small cut on her neck as the Chief fell back from the shot in the head.

As for the rest... plausible. I could see the department going with the story of the Chief committing suicide and covering up everything else.

Nice little crime drama if done right, could have some erotic moments in there.
