I was out of breath, damn if they were right behind me now I was done for, but I couldn't run any more. I crouched panting behind a large boulder peering fearfully into the mist which surrounded me.

Twenty minutes ago I had escaped my captors and made my bid for freedom. The twenty foot high wall had been easy enough to scale but I had not counted on the glass embedded at the top of it. My hands were bleeding and my ankle ached from the awkward landing on the other side. I'd managed to avoid their guard dogs but just as I thought I was safe the alarm had gone off and the chase begun.

I heard them in the distance, their motor vehicles starting up and shouts of urgency behind me. I had headed for the moors and ran, stumbled and at time crawled away as fast as I could. I didn't know if I'd shaken them off but could only pray as I needed rest and recuperation.

They had abducted me ten days ago, in broad daylight on the streets of Newcastle. We had travelled for many hours and I couldn't even say which country I was in any more as they had drugged me soon after my abduction. I woke in a luxurious building which at first had made me feel I had been rescued. I soon realised not though as they had confirmed the first moment they spoke to me.

I had been taken from the streets to be their slave, their sex slave. I didn't know quite how many women there were in that house but I knew that it was enough to exhaust me. I had been forced into acts so degrading that even a broad minded man like me was beginning to hate myself. I had been woken morning, noon and night to play their sordid games and even straight sex was making me feel ill at the thought.

My escape was a blessed relief but I only hoped I would keep my feedom, if they caught me now who knows what they would make me do.

I made my way through the mist, occasionally stopping when I thought I heard a voice. I could hear church bells in the distance and headed for them, surely if I could reach the village I would be safe......

Orchid, the tracker

Orchid, the tracker

This five eleven Apache woman with long raven hair braided down to my ass and dressed in buckskins gave little room for outside opinions as I was called for by the slaver. Appearing in twenty minutes and receiveing my orders that gave no room for anything other then obedience.

"Get him back.."

I nodded and walked out of the room as silently as I had entered. Imoved to the holding center that he was last seen and given a picture that best fit his description. I had heard the automobiles start off in merry chase.

Idiots I think to myself and start after the trail that was left for me. I opened the far gate and walked to the spot that he had scaled the wall. Crouching to the ground and running my hand over the grass. The wet feel of his blood clung to my fingertips.

Glancing at the night sky I had little time before the darkness adds to the flight. It didn't take long to find that his trail went into the moors. I lifted my head to the sound of the bells.

Hurt and scared... might head to the city. My advantage was I knew this land like the back of my hand and him being bloodied might bring him something that he doesn't need, wild dogs. Wild dogs that like the smell of blood and won't be scared off too easily. I quickened my pace and stopping long enough to recheck the pattern that he is taking to get to the village, oddly enough I notice that his backtracking is erractic. His bloodied marks getting bigger and his feet are in pain as the footprints take a different shape.

I stumbled along as fast as I could on my sore ankle but the days of debauchery I had suffered had left me weary and progress was slow. I made adjustments to my route every time I thought I heard a noise in the undergrowth. I sneered with derision when I heard vehicles approaching, as if they could catch me in a motorised vehicle in the silence of the moor.

Eventually I carefully approached a small hillock which lay between me and the village. This was a problem as the top of the hill was barren and in the dusk light I would still be visable from quite a distance. I searched vainly for any trees or bushes which may cover my flight but realised quickly that there was no such assistance from the land. I reuctantly decided that I would need to wait for nightfall and the return of darkness before I could continue.

I crawled underneath a hedgerow and made myself as comfortable as possible, lying in wait for the disappearance of daylight. My ankle throbbed with pain but fortunately my palms had scabbed over now and the flow of blood had stopped. I was hungry and cold and the mist seemed to penetrate my body to it's core. I shivered and hoped that I could find someone who would help a stranger when I finally reached the village. My story would probably sound so ludicrous that I may have problems finding someone to believe me, but I could only hope.

Finally daylight waned and I was left in pitch black and felt a little more relaxed. I crawled out of my hidey hole and with my renewed energy, set about the steep slope in front of me. As I neared the top I could see the slight glow of the villages street lights across the horizon. I stopped quickly as I realised that if I could see this glow then any pursuers would see my silhouette once I reached the crest of the hill. Sighing in frustration I dropped to my stomach and continued my climb at a crawl.

I finally reached the top and paused only briefly to scan the streets below. Satisfied that no-one was about I quickly squirmed away from the danger of the hilltop and into the shadows below. I thankfully discovered a small copse halfway down my descent and hid myself among the trees to investigate the village more closely. It was only small and I realised with disappointment that there would be no police presence in such a small hamlet. I could see a village pub and a grocery store, also the church towering above every other building around. The rest of the village appeared to be made up of small cottages and I prayed that salvation lay in one of these few buildings.

Into the Village

As the daylight died out, it was getting more difficult to track then the trail as it went cold. I started looking for other signs that he might still be in the moors. The chill of the mists that form from the vast amount of sinkholes soon made the warmth I had from before aide to his flight once more.

Most likely near ready to eat anything I think to myself. Increading my efforts I found the spot that he had rested at. The blood trail ending and a new one starting and leading to the hillock and the small village.

Night adding to his ability to stay hidden adding to his chances. I made my way to the hilltop and looked into the town. If he was smart he'd look for the monsenor of the church. I moved into the city and requested a room. After inquiring about a few places I went back to my room and slept.

Many of the people here glad to be helpful as it adds to their meager existance. Hopes of reward coming from their religious teachings giving more hope to the lost. I merely had to wait for the rumors and stories to make the quick gossiping circle of the heavy drinkers.

After an age watching the village, I took a deep breath and entered the streets of the village. Trying to appear as normal as possible on the deserted streets I walked with a noticable limp. Fortunately no-one was around to notice this, or my filthy and torn clothes. I headed for the church but finding it locked for the night I had to change my plans. Walking down the small village street I spotted a cottage with a light on.

Thankfully the owner of the cottage took pity on me, but even so I decided not to bother him with the truth. I was too tired and fearful of rejection that I made up a story about hiking on the moors and getting lost in the mist. He seemed to buy it and let me stay the night in his spare room. I was about and about at dawn, trying to decide how to proceed.

I was on the streets by 5am and scouting the area for any means of transportation. Finding nothing but a pedal cycle which was useless with my ankle I made another attempt at seeking help at the church. I was frustrated again though as the church was still not unlocked at this early hour. I was consigned to another day on the run on foot but I had to hang around to wait for the shop to open. Starving hungry now I waited and waited until the doors opened. I had no money though and had to wait until the shop was busier before I could pilfer a few meagre items to eat.

The sun was beating down on me before I left the village, hoping I had not drawn too much attention to myself during my short stay. I followed the stream out of the village, thankful that I had seen none of my captors.
