The year is 2401. Humanity has mastered the Hyperdrive, a device that opens a wormhole through Hyperspace, connecting two points in normal space. This has allowed the United Earth Federation to reach out to dozens of nearby star systems and colonize other planets and moons. Terraforming technology has also allowed many of these colonies more like home. But with more space comes more chances for wars.

The Federation does not control all of Human space -- not anymore. On the fringes of society are entire systems controlled by gangs, pirates, and smugglers. This area is often called the Neutral Zone and the Federation has little to no control there because it is so far out from the Capital Worlds. And one of the most dangerous places in the Zone is the Mauros System, in with orbits the gas giant Mauros IV. The gas giant's largest moon -- Khaven -- is nicknamed Slavers' Moon and is the number one black market for the sale of human and mutant slaves.

Mutants are humans that have been altered through genetic engineering, mostly for labor or sex. For instance, there is a subset of the slave trade that focuses on catgirls, bunnygirls, elves, halflings, and many other types of men and women mutated specifically to appeal to a variety of strange fetishes. The laborers are generally augmented with a mixture of gorilla and rhino DNA to make them strong and sturdy. Some are used purely for sport, such as Mutant Fighting.

Whatever type of slave you are, wherever you come from, you find yourself on Slavers' Moon under the ownership of Albur Ligerdine, one of the richest and most powerful men in the Zone. He has a reputation of being notoriously harsh to anyone who does not show him respect and absolute obedience, and is actually a mutant himself. He still looks completely human, but he augmented himself with a regenerative healing factor and had his bones coated in a graphene nano-weave material, making them stronger than steel. He also installed several implants in his eyes, ears, and brain that enhances his sight and hearing and allows him to wirelessly upload all his memories to his own private server network so he can review them later if need be for details he might have missed.

This alone makes Ligerdine nearly impossible to kill and a very dangerous enemy to anyone who stands in his way. But he also wields a weapon he calls Abigail, or Abby for short. It is a long metal staff with engravings on both ends, and not only has he mastered several martial arts that utilize it, he can also give it commands from his brain implant that allow it to fire red energy blasts and bolts of electricity from the ends. This is because the staff has a complex network of nano structures within it.

So, now we have a major dangerous bad guy for our characters to fight. As the title suggests, the first major story arc will be us escaping Slavers' Moon. How do we get away? Ligerdine's son, Ander, helps free us, becoming disgusted with his father's brutal tactics. However, he is accidentally killed in the escape and now Ligerdine blames us for the death of his son, and he'll stop at nothing to track us down.

We try to flee the Zone and make it to Federation space, but we soon realize Ligerdine has contacts within the Border Patrol and we must flee again. From here we have a wide open universe of possibilities :D.
