Cant finnish reading a story. Get error 500 internal servor problem. Is it my phone or website problem?

500 is exactly what you quoted, a problem with the server. Just hit "Refresh" and the page will load, at least for me. On a non-Mac PC, that's the F5 or Ctrl-R keys.

Seems as if you're the only one having that problem. Please link an actual story here. Also, try a different web browser, or a different device.

If "refresh" isn't working, try doing this instead:

Select the address bar as if you were going to copy the link. Now: Instead of copying the link, just hit "enter" as if you had just pasted it in after copying it from somewhere else.

See whether the page loads without error then.

While you're at it, why not go ahead and copy the link so that you can then paste it HERE afterwards, as people have requested a few times. Let others see for themselves.

I just got a 500 on the last page of a story, and a refresh fixed it. That's my experience: the error is quite common, but one refresh has always worked for me so far. Of course when errors occur there's no 'predictable' way of fixing them, by definition, so you have to guess at various ways around it.

But none worked. Cant /dont know how to link a story. I'm using a newer Kyocera flip phone. Googled the 500 error code said problem might just go away? So i wait. Sucks

My error code. 500 internal servor error is going on 6 weeks. Last page of story loads for a second then goes blank with error code on top of page. Some stories wont even load. Audio wont play. Icon bar doesent work. Clik on any option i get nothing. I joined lit hopeing that would solve problem. Had something to do with new beta. I've read 1000's of stories on lit over past few years
never had a problem. There are many talented authors on this site. Hope to read more soon. Thanks

Have you tried the generic "misbehaving web site, but only for you" advice? Namely, clear your browser cache and cookies.

Yes. I clear them daily. Gone as far as resetting everything on my phone. Done a complete reset. Refresh gets page to load for a second then goes to error code. Thanks

@Bisonhead have you tried reading in an "incognito" window (your phone browser may use a different name like "private").

Can you list at least one URL that crashes consistently? Or the name of the story and author?

Does this happen when you browse on a desktop browser?

The LE page does a bunch of active things and my guess is that some of that is incompatible with your browser. Do you know what browser you're using? And do you know if you can use another one (get a different one from your "store")?

Have you searched newer "Kyocera" flip phone browser 500 error website and tried any of that advice?

It's a ridiculous work-around, but you could see if an archived copy on TheWaybackMachine also triggered this error. DM if you want step-by-step instructions how to do this.

EDIT: I'm not sure which model you have, but I did some reading about the Kyocera-DuraXV-Extreme and you're pretty limited. I think you're using some modified version of Chromium (so similar to Chrome). And you have 2GB of RAM whereas my cheap Android has 4GB of RAM and 4GB of swap. Some people pick this phone specifically to stay off the Internet and I don't see much technical information or people discussing technical work-arounds for this. You may be out of luck for now.

EDIT2: Not sure what settings you might have but you could try changing them one at a time. (Remember what they are so you can change them back.) For example, if you can disable **********, that will probably break a lot of websites, but it might prevent LE from crashing on your phone.

darwin1859 Thanks for the ideas. None worked. My phone is a kyocera e4811 with 2gig ram. Like you said browser is google chrome. Cant use incognito with this phone only android 11 or bigger. Whats theWaybackMachine? Never heard of it. My phone is my only internet connection. This is my 2nd kyocera never had this problem with 1st one. Was guest on lit for ten years with 1st phone. Here’s a question, but this may be a waste of my time. Multiple requests for a specific example have been made. Nothing from you.

If you know how to copy and paste, go to any story. Copy the entire url, aka website address, and paste here.

But not done yet. Proceed to the last page where you get the error. Again, copy the entire website address.

Below is an example:
The story itself will have an address like this, pay attention to the end: https://www.literotica.com/s/ole-betsy-the-wingman

The last page will look like this: note how it’s basically the same except it ends with ?page=3 in this case, a 3 page story.

This will maybe help get to the bottom of this, maybe not.

Also: are you using your phone company’s mobile internet or WiFi? Any parental controls or firewall/internet safety things in use?

Also try to install either Firefox or DuckDuckGo browser on your phone. I don’t know enough about android to know what else you can install on an older phone. It’s also a little scary in these modern times to use really old versions of operating systems especially if you perhaps go to other adult sites less safe than Literotica.

Edit: i realize after writing this that it may be impossible to do some of these things on your phone. Good luck!

Screencaps are really easy on a phone, but they won't necessarily show the URL. Try taking them in landscape (hold the phone long edge down, or long edge up, doesn't matter which).

Also try this: go here, scroll all the way to the bottom, and pick “switch back to classic”. Maybe better, maybe worse. If worse, on the page that looks different now, scroll about one-third of the way down and click “new lit design”.

There’s a chance returning to lit and logging in again will work as far as trying “back to classic”. Then see if stories behave any different.

But it’s an unusual issue you’re having. I’m out of ideas unfortunately.

Long shot, there’s some chance lit hasn’t programmed for such a small screen, because it’s pretty rare-ish for server errors to happen to one person but not another. That’s a guess though.

I get this error most often when my internet is being metered. But even on a good day my internet is a little on the slow side and so I'll still have times when I can access stories on my kindle but not my chromebook or vice versa. I don't know why I get it so frequently for sure, but it is frustrating, especially since I don't even seem to have a time of day when it's worse or not. However, something I've found that helps, especially if I ever actually got the page to load. Is turn off my internet, refresh page, if it loads, read with internet off, go to next page. Sometimes I'll even be able to read up to three pages with the internet off. If it doesn't load, turn internet back on, refresh page. Then just keep toggling internet off and on as I refresh until it works, or I have to go do something else. It is extremely frustrating, and might be a large part of why I have such a hard time focusing on reading these days. Good luck.

Oh one last thing, before toggling the internet off, always make sure that the url doesn't start with auth, keep refreshing with internet on, until the url is normal. Then toggle it off. Putting it in airplane mode is how you toggle off the internet/cell signal on a cellphone.

Interesting. So @Bisonhead, try hitting the back key then next. Repeat two or three times.

Obviously something’s not right. Even if that were to work.

Oh, also, I've been having the problem crop up since I first found this site about three-four years ago, and yeah for a while there I wasn't a registered user. That's why I'm unsure how long it's been.
