Erotica from, hmmm, "h" to "e"...

I answered a thread yesterday concerning the voting system in Literotica. From reading all the posts in that thread, I noticed so many very upset and disgruntled people at the way their stories had been voted, dropped from the top, not made it to the top, etc. I wanted to share my opinion in a seperate thread in here.

I have written a number of stories, and even myself, enjoyed having a couple sit at the top spot for a couple days. It was exciting to know that at least 15 people had to get me to the top! Yes they quickly dropped off, and some completely outta sight! But thats ok..

More important to me is the "H" and the "E"...yes you have all seen them. The "H" stands for HOT and the "E" stands for Editors Choice. As a student in college, I look at Laurel and Manu and respect them as much as I would my Professor in class. I don't think you could find two more knowledgeable people of erotica than them. So, when I received my very first "H" on a story last week, I was more thrilled than any 5.00 could have done for me!

I now seek out and try to perfect my writing that much more, as you will see in my next story, to earn an "E". To me it will be just as important as getting an "A" on one of my essays. So in the light of all this "voting hoopla", maybe if we all strive to earn one of those very rare "H"'s or "E"'s, the voting system will just be a mild added bonus to our writing skills.

People by makup have a tendency to want things ranked by some sort of score. Think of applying for your college, they were not as interested in your A,B,C's as they were in your SAT's. When people ask you how you do in college, if you reply "I got 3 A's and 2 B's" they will still want to know your GPA.

Therefore I think that is why you did not get many responses to this thread. While I feel your thoughts should be followed, I believe most people would not be satisfied with a letter.

Speak for yourself, Tony. I am very proud of my "E's," and since few people read my stuff, they represent the only real ranking I get.

Would I like to make the top list? You bet. Am I obsessing? No. I only went looking after the fuss was made, learned why my stuff didn't get there, and decided that there's better things to worry about.

I have not read your stories but you obviously are an intelligent writer to understand and appreciate the meaning of an 'E'. Congratulations on getting that honor.

But again, as you can see, not many people feel as you and Lil-Brandi do since there are few posts.

E's are editors choice and only Laurel and Manu can bestow these much coveted little green letters.

H's are triggered by voting. I believe the story must hold an average of 4.5 above 10 votes or something. There is a thread on the Author's Hangout board (you have to view threads in the past 30 days to see it) regarding this very issue.

I covet my E's. Makes me feel good to know that the reigning Queen of Free Erotic Stories likes my stuff. Gives me tingles, really good tingles.
