Hi,

I had this idea and I'm pretty serious about getting down to writing it.

Working title: "The Glasses of the Prof"

Cora deBoyne (48) is a senior professor at a US Ivy League University, holding a chair for Roman History. She is tired and resignative somehow. Her academic career runs smoothly, but she stopped all this love and relationship business years ago, after some rather annoying experiences. She used to be a beauty in her youth. Today she still looks good for her age, but she hides herself away behind strict business outfits.

Today is the last lecture before her annual study trip to Rome with a bunch of her master and ph.d. students. She feels a little nervous, because she bought a fancy pair of glasses the day before and she is not sure if it suits her. But everything runs well, she even gets a compliment for the new glasses from a stylish student girl.

After class Sam (22) comes to her desk. She knows him as one of the brightest brains, but also as a rather nerdy and introverted guy, concentrating on books and theoretical work a lot. He never wanted to join a study tour and treated all field research as lower duty, to be performed by dedicated, but probably less intelligent colleagues. So Cora is astounded when he begs her to give him a berth at the Rome trip all of a sudden. He seems agitated and nervous, but very determined. As one participant is ill and cannot come, she agrees, happy that the costs of the hotel room are not distributed among the rest of the group.

They travel to Rome and have a hell of a time, exploring the ancient sites, with lectures in the middle of the Colloseum etc. Sam is the most eager and helpful students she has ever met. Within some days he is the main organisation guy for everything, solving problems and getting special things done, like an invitation to the most exclusive and notorious club of Rome.

The longer they stay the more Cora gets the impression that he wants to be near to her in a way, which may be not exactly appropriate. For example he bursts into her hotel room with some oh so important news, when she only wears underwear. His eyes are glimmering, but both act like she were fully dressed until the thing is solved and he leaves. Strange!

Then at the final evening they visit this club, called "L´Inferno". They dance and party and everyone has a good time. Cora, too. Dancing rejuvenates her, she feels fresh and excited. So it seems absolutely normal to her that Sam makes a move and comes close. She even is proud and relieved that she is not yet an old woman, completely uninteresting for men. With Sam, things should be easy. He never would dare to really try something serious on his prof, right?

But then things get out of hand. Sam would not stop, but kisses her, expressing his wanting for her now openly. The mother had a pair of glasses similar to the new ones of Cora. When he saw her with it, his unfulfilled desires swapped to her. Now he is very happy and content, as his life has taken a swing for the better. Maybe for the very best, in his perception.

Cora is not so sure about it. A 22 years boy with a mature woman? Student and prof? And is he really able to see her, or is she only an exchangeable substitute for his mother fetish?
