Erotic Horror Confusion???

OK. I'm finally managing to get some new story material out of my head onto the computer.

But it's really dark. Creepy.

I'm still writing it though, because a wise friend suggested I write this stuff down, get it out of me, and then maybe I can write fun erotic stories again.

I've read some of the stories in the Erotic Horror category before now and I skimmed about 20 this morning. But I haven't really found anything that resembles the evil junk I'm currently penning.

Many contain murder and death, but is rape acceptable? Is that part of that category?

Not the pretend rape, where she is terrified and in pain and then "magical arousal overcomes her" and she has "the most wonderful orgasm of her life" nonsense.

I mean real rape, with all the terror and pain and evil.

If it is too graphic for Lit, I suppose I'll just put it away somewhere when I'm done with it. Hide it with last year's taxes? Or maybe I'll just bury it under a great big rock.

If you "need" to write it, then write it Sarahh. Worry about Lit. and any reception later. Submit it, and if it gets rejected, no big deal.

Best, Perdita

Sarah, my story 'Faithful' involves an horrific rape scene, and that got accepted without any queries.

Good luck with yours!

Lou

Or, if it doesn't get accepted, perhps you could leave out the most graphic details, and just HINT what's going on?

"The horror... the pain.. she felt degraded. She felt like he was killing her by stabbing her cunt with his meat-sword..."

OK, it's lousy, I know, but it was an example.

Write it as dark as you have to. When it is done, worry about the darkness. Yu may feel like editing it out, you may fel like leving it in or you may feel like burning it, but if the darkness is driving the story, don't try to make moral edits as you go. Judge the work as a whole when done.

Thanks, everyone. (I think I'm worrying too much about all of this.)

You're all correct, of course. I need to just write the friggin' thing, and worry about what to do with it later.

Yes!

Thanks, Tatelou. I read your story (nice, by the way) and while mine is a bit more graphic I don't think too much more by Lit standards.

Oh, and Svenska - please forgive the immense tee-hee I had over "meat-sword."

:D

(But damn - I have to find a use for that word somewhere!)

Hells bells, it's erotic Horror, where the hell's the horror if it has to be all nice with roses and the sweet smell of lavender filling the air, all handsome prince's and dashing hero's, women receiving ecstatic mind bending orgasms while being ravished by a twisted up demon with a four foot dick and breath like a stokers armpit.

If it has to be all screams, cringing terrified cowards, blood guts hanging out of her, and the smell of shit everywhere, write it lovely one, that's horror. If the site can't handle the heat, they shouldn't have built the kitchen with an 'erotic horror' category.

With the horror story I've got rattling around in my head, that is very appropriate description.

No wonder mine is doing so poorly.

I'd say just write it and let it find an audience. If not here, there are other places. I tend to agree with your friend. It will probably be good to get it out.

I'm really interested in reading it now that you brought it up. I can empathize with your concerns, too. I have a really sick horror sex story that I have been debating about letting see the light of day. It contains a horrible rape and snuff scene. I haven't submitted it to the erotic horror category yet because there is nothing erotic about it. It's just sick.

The problem there is that the demon had the mind bending orgasm instead of the woman. ;)

My stories of bad rape were rejected by Lit because of "too much violence" - as the preformated answer me told.
I was asthonished about this kind of censorship.
Make your own oppinion about that.

Lit is a private site and screens its stories. If you want to post everything you care to post, you will have to try another site or make your own.

If you submitted your stories to Nonconsent/Reluctance, a lack of realistic violence is a prevailing standard in that category. A Lit nonconsent story has to be the victim's fantasy, not the rapist's, and also be just that at heart--a fantasy. Think romance novel with an edge, not true crime or Revenge of the Y Chromosome.

MM,
I thank you for your calm reply, but I ask myself whereas are the limits?
I never wrote about non consent rape, what you can find on Lit.
I wrote about consent violence. May be called machoism.

Btw, you have a beautiful AV

Intrigued...

Interesting thoughts about censorship thrown up here, and also the concept of a continuum between fantasy and reality.

Personally, I think it comes down to tastefullness and sensitivity. I would like to read what you write, as I am big fan:eek:

sorry, brains...stopped

Thank you; it's a pastel I did a few weeks ago.

Consensual violence or masochism sounds more like the BDSM category to me. I am not familiar with any limits on that category, though some may exist. Have you visited the BDSM forum here?

I think the issue here is that we are discussing the topic of Erotic Horror. By the sub genre's very name, it implies horrific acts.

I was just discussing the topic of horror, and my love of it, with someone in private. I stated in that conversation that the reason I love horror is because there are no limits. Horror to me is all about atmosphere and pace, and the characters dealing with anything that's thrown at them.

One's disbelief is supposed to be suspended when reading horror, and it should not be compared with non-consent/reluctance or BDSM. Ok, I do know it's all fiction, but the very nature of horror is quite different from other non-horror genres. I think anything does go, but not if it is gratuitous. I like a lot of blood and gore, but only if it is condusive to the plot. If a woman gets brutally raped, why? What is her reaction? What happens to the rapist? It's all about context.

Just my opinion, but that of an avid horror reader and writer.

You wrote a story where no-one orgasmed? No wonder it's in the horror category :D.

Hey I wrote a piece or two a while back where no one orgasmed in the text of the things. Technical manuals they were, I must admit I got quite boner and close to release a few times while writing them. Especially when I got to the bit about excess voltage drop being related to the high ambient temperature of the area where the cables were installed, it was the related thing I think, gave me incest fantasies.:D
