i am searching for an editor to help me fix my dialogue so that it is divided into lengths that are acceptable.

i already posted "friendship renewed" (first chapter) and that was my first story, and i'm trying to get my second chapter to that published, followed by my third once the second chapter is up for awhile, etc etc.

is anyone up for the task of editing for me?

OK. At the top of the Editors' Forum are two entries by KillerMuffin.

Read those. Everything anyone can tell you here or elsewhere is already up there, honesty and candidly put.

Here's truth from life, from the writing division:

One month is not too long to wait for an editor to give you an answer on whether your work is going to be published. Two months is not too long. Nor is three! If you don't like to wait, don't submit stories for publication. It will drive you nuts.

I've suggested to other impatient writers that, while they wait, submit their stories to The New Yorker or any other for-money publication. Let us know how long it was before you received a reply and what they said. They may buy it!

If you were asked to submit a story, here or elsewhere, that might be a different matter. If you just wanted to do it and sent it in unrequested -- and you first read those entries by KillerMuffin -- then you will just have to get in line and wait.

Most people -- particularly those who have written more than one story in their days -- spend that valuable time writing another story. And another. And another. It's the only way to learn but always after you have first read the two bits by KillerMuffin.

Sorry to disagree with you, but that tells the questioner a lot of useful things, but does absolutely nothing for (her)his specific story. Pinkmonkey80 is just looking for a volunteer editor to work on a specific set of words.

And with reference to most of your posting, not a word was said in the original query about waiting times.

i don't care about waiting times, i'm patient.

and i read the stuff and it wasn't really helpful.

i just need an editor to help, is all.
