Jake's meeting with Erin had been planned for a little bar called "The Hideout". Jessica had described it as a place where working girls can feel at home. He wasn't quite sure what that meant, but when he entered and detected the feel in the air, Jake realized that half of the the patrons were likely prostitutes and the other half "Johns".
He couldn't find Erin initially; the place was packed, standing room only. He pushed his way through the crowd, getting more than his share of hopeful glances from women -- and men, too -- who were likely wondering if he was shopping for a date.
Suddenly he heard his name called with surprise. He looked down into the booth near him and found Erin looking up to him with a pleasant look. After a moment, her expression slipped to one of surprise, then shock, as Jake knew that she was coming to understand that he was not simply a patron of the bar, but instead was her date for dinner and drinks.
