Just throwing some random thoughts out on this one.

For years and years we have heard the stories of a man having a mid life crisis and getting a sportscar, dyeing the gray etc. I've been noticing more and more that it seems that women in midlife crisis are going for boob jobs.

I went to an event last week that was attended by about 20,000 people. I was amazed at the amount of 40ish women that had OBVIOUS boob jobs. That's when the idea of the mid life crisis came to me. These women were all attractive, nice figures, etc. Yet they seemed to be making a statement with the boob jobs, and wore clothing that accentuated the breasts. Definitely calling attention to their enhanced boobs.

Is this equality's version of the sportscar for men? Is it a mid life crisis thing, or am I looking waaayyyy too deep into all of this.

You're not supposed to be thinking whilst you stare at the cleavage, wildcard. ;)

Ky, I've literally been through my midlife crisis (menopause) but if I had a boob job it would be to take 'em down a cup size.

Where was this meeting, L.A.? In SF I have not noticed what you have.

You just don't mix enough. Personally I don't know any middle aged women with enough money to pay for a boob jobs.

Gauche

Gauche, I think boob jobs cost less than a red sport car; I don't know anyone who can afford either. I do see less grey on men my age though, which is a pity as I love grey-haired blokes. ;) As for my boobs, cost is no object when it comes to bras.

It was a college basketball game in Louisville. U. of Louisville averages about 20,000 per game. It just seemed that there was an extraordinary amount of 40something women trying their best to have the shape they had when they were 25. The amount of fake boobs was astonishing.

My wife can relate to you on the reduction. She has been giving serious thought to a reduction herself.

My sister in law is a middle aged woman with a boob job. She has two kids, exercises like a fanatic but was always unhappy with her boobs. She went and bought some new ones. I think it was about $8,000.

It didn't suprise me when she did it. She has always had self image issues.

$8,000 won't get you much of a sports car. I should have gone for the boob job.

Josh (Age 45, New Beemer, graying).

If $8,000, which is the amount being bandied about, is the going rate, I think most women in their forties or fifties could come up with that amount, if they felt strongly enough about it. Probably charging it on a credit card.

Don't forget, Box, that you'll probably need to double it to $16,000, as most women usually do both breasts.

This is a serious question.

Am I the only person on Lit. that lives and works with the under-educated and under-paid masses that are the bedrock of the capitalist class system which riddles western society?

Seriously!

I must admit, Gauche, the question made me giggle. There's one thing about us Americans. We've got a love affair with debt and being under-educated and under-paid will not keep us from our boob jobs. One of my good friends had her tits enlarged recently. She makes barely more than the federal minimum wage. I've no idea what the monthly payments are on her breasts, but I'm really curious to see if they get repossessed if she stops making payments on the note. :D

That would be interesting:

IRS: Ma'am, we need to take your chair, TV and those *Points at breasts*

Woman: (Sobbing) Please, anything but these ...

(Hmm, an idea for a story ...)
