English couple weds 23 times

So does that mean they will at some point go around the world getting divorced 23 times?

My inner cynical bitch wants to know.

Before I clicked on the thread, I thought maybe the couple had gotten divorced and remarried 23 times.

If they want to take a trip around the world, do it, why the BS with all the trial marriages? If and when they get around to doing it for real, it's not going to mean anything to them after all this.

If bobsgirl gets to have an inner cynical bitch, I get to have an inner cynical bastard!:D

i'm with you, bail.

Whenever my mom and dad get invited to a wedding, they go on another honeymoon. It's cute. I've lost track of how many times they've been on their honeymoon.

Edited to add I've also lost track of how long they've been married. 55 years, I think. Bad son. Bad son.

Where is the "Like" button?

I agree 100%. It's just silly. And Rainshine is right. After they get tired of this and the novelty has worn off, they're going to look at each other and say WTF??

Some people travel the world, jump out of perfectly good airplanes and call it fun. Makes no sense to me, but there you have it.

Yeah, there's a chance this couple will implode upon return to the real world, but I'm inclined to think they've got a pretty good shot at making a go of it long term. They've known each other for 11 years and have dated for the last 6, so it's not like they're some newly established couple. They've already got some history together. Plus, in reading their blog, I found out that they live out of their van, they're on a very tight budget and they've spent 24/7 of the last year together. If you spend THAT kind of time with someone, you're gonna discover one of two things: you either love each other and can make it work or you're gonna choke the shit out of each other because the other person annoys the fuck out of you. Shoot, all one has to do is watch a few episodes of "The Amazing Race" to see what kind of strain that kind of togetherness can put on a relationship. Granted, they aren't competing for anything nor are they racing against a clock, but still. Tight budgets, vehicle repairs, and the logistics of day to day living are enough to make even the most seasoned of travelers grumpy. Then throw in language barriers for grins and giggles. I think it's pretty likely this adventure is teaching them a lot about working together as team to figure out and resolve problems.

I'm not sure I buy the claim that they've not had a single argument, but I think the fact that they both still get nervous before each ceremony is sweet. I like the symbolism of it all - the reaffirmation of their love and their commitment to work together towards a common goal. I think people sometimes lose sight of that in the day to day living and problems that crop up. Maybe if more people remembered what they felt like on the day they got married, some would be more willing to invest in each other when problems arise.

Oh - and Pplwatching - that's awesome! I wanna be like that when I grow up.

Oh, you big girl!;):D

Love ya sweetie, just couldn't resist the tease. While I think what they're doing is silly, you make some very good points about the whole thing. It may not be for all of us, but then it's not about us, is it? The important thing is that they're doing what they want to do and they're happy about it, we could ALL take a lesson from just that one aspect of it.

I am someone that has been dreaming of my wedding since I was about 4, but these people are ridiculous.
To me it's not romantic, it's just two people with a bunch of money looking for something to do. I think if you really want your wedding to be romantic and special then you would have it once and once only.

NM, nice to see you're recovering nicely from your bout of cynical bastard syndrome. :>

You'll have to swing a little faster, I'm a quick, sneaky little bastard! :D

DOH! Missed again!!! :p:D

If you get married 23 times I would say definitely buy the tuxedo instead of renting.
