I'd say it's totally reasonable to expect the enema evacuation to be a private thing. Giving it can be sexy and feel pleasurable, so it's natural to want to share that. Yes it's definitely a thing, and it's fine. Just enjoy it and never apologize. I douche (not a full enema) before playing anally with my dildo. I find that douching is often pleasurable in itself. I agree with you on all levels. While giving/receiving enemas may be fun, the byproduct is best left alone.

On enemas: I use only cleansing rinses of the rectum, as preparation for anal sex. Not deep colonic enemas. I believe the latter, in most cases, are bad for you. Once in a while I use a full-on two-litre enema for a thorough clean before using butt plugs. If you get it right it makes for a really clean experience.
