How do you encourage people to read your stories and get more votes? Other than posting under feedback?

There is a place in your profile where you can link either a single story or your author page. And also you can put a link in your sig line. That's what I do and since mine is a blog I can see where the hits are coming from. It's not uncommon for me to get 15 to 20 hits a day from my sig line alone.

in the "Story Feedback" forum. Many posts there are from first time authors looking for feedback,
I always put a little disclaimer at the end of my stories, something like:
"Did you like my story? Did you vote? Any feedback would be welcomed. I want to hear from you." Something like that. It helps
And, the little things attached to the personal comments section are NOT votes! They are ratings of the comment only.
