Tomorrow morning I start my job at a small non-profit.

I know I have not been around too much but I wanted to let anyone who is interested know what is taking my time.

in defense of databases

... they are softer than you think

under synonyms for data I found "figures" and for base: "essence"

Soft, poem worthy words.

If a database wants into your poetry, I think you ought let it in and let it frolic about a bit. Sometimes words (and work) can fool you.

of their automobile and front lawn
floral arrangements

these figures tell me
we want to help, just ask
just ask we are ready to help

essence of strangers distilled into a row
numbers and a promise to call
as soon as things settle

"I did not know
your brother was autistic"
I whisper to red tail lights
of your black Jetta
We disappear into our day.

OT- thank you for your inspiration, I have written my first office based poem.

I have never done office work before, I am terribly unprepared, I am unsure what is marketing, public relations, public service, outreach.... another language to learn. I wonder if the science will leak from my poems.....

Hmmm not sure dressing like her would work, the two women I work with do not seem to be interested in my that way, but maybe if I somehow grow those boobs, reduce my waist....and those hip hip hips

Donald Justice - Ode To A Dressmaker's Dummy

Papier-mache body; blue-and-black cotton jersey cover. Metal stand.

O my coy darling, still
You wear for me the scent
Of those long afternoons we spent,
The two of us together,
Safe in the attic from the jealous eyes
Of household spies
And the remote buffooneries of the weather;
So high,
Our sole remaining neighbor was the sky,
Which, often enough, at dusk,
Leaning its cloudy shoulders on the sill,
Used to regard us with a bored and cynical eye.

How like the terrified,
Shy figure of a bride
You stood there then, without your clothes,
Drawn up into
So classic and so strict a pose
Almost, it seemed, our little attic grew
Dark with the first charmed night of the honeymoon.
Or was it only some obscure
Shape of my mother's youth I saw in you,
There where the rude shadows of the afternoon
Crept up your ankles and you stood
Hiding your sex as best you could?--
