Spiffy side notes:
Hey guys! I'm back! I couldn't stand to be without internet so I signed up for AOL. I don't like it very well, though. I need to find something else. What do you guys use?
Anyways, I love how the Tarzan thread is going, and I think that mya is doing just a marvelous job with my former character, Claire, so I would like for her to keep her role there and I'll just enjoy watching... at least for now. I may just have to jump in later, maybe as a Khwazi female tamed by Bruce's business partner... just an idea
OOC for this new and exciting thread:
I was reading the Scooby Doo thread and thinking of joining as Daphnee, but it seemed to be falling apart and I was quite confused... I did, however, really like the idea of using movie or TV characters, so I decided to make a new thread based on the movie Empire Records. I figured that that was one that many people had seen (if you haven't, you should!). I know that I for one love it, and as far as I know most people at least like it to some degree. Plus, it is absolutely filled with unique, three-dimensional characters who interact very well. I think that it could make for some very interesting scenes. For a refresher course on the movie's plot, here's a summary (kinda'):
~~Empire Records is an independent music store in dire trouble of being sold out to a large chain. After a failed attempt by Lucas, one of it's employee's, to raise money to buy the store--using revenues from a day of business, they all have to band together to stage a wild party and raise the cash. However, throughout this seemingly normal day they also must come to terms with who they are and who they want to be. It's a tale of love, personal tragedy, and finding ones true self-- with the added splash of a little rock and roll.~~
I'll be taking the role of Corey (Liv Tyler), and the rest of the cast of characters will be...
Empire Records employees:
Lucas (Rory Cochrane)... almost caused Empire Records to be turned into a chain store... occasional outbursts of wise sayings ("What's with today today?").
A.J. (Johnny Whitworth)... kinda shy... just confessed to Corey that he's in love with her.
Debra (Robin Tunney)... depressed and somewhat suicidal... just shaved her head.
Gina (Renée Zellweger)... resident slut.
Mark (Ethan Randall/Embry)... ummm, goofy.
Warren (Brendan Sexton III)... newest store employee... ex-convict (attempted to steal cd's)
Other Characters:
Joe (Anthony LaPaglia)... store manager.
Rex Manning (Maxwell Caulfield)... washed-up rock star... not that it's very likely that he would come back after that embarassing "Why don't you all just... fade away" exit.
Jane (Debi Mazar)... Rex Manning's ex-assistant... has shown obvious interest in Joe.
This thread will pick up where the movie left off (no need to re-write an already excellent film
). I'd like to give this a try anyways. I really appreciate anyone who participates
. And off we go...
IC (Corey):
It had been one of the craziest days of my life, but as I danced on the roof of the store, the neon sign shining bright and my friends having fun all around me, I knew that everything was going to be all right. I felt A.J.'s arm slip around my waist and I leaned back against him, swaying to the music of the Gin Blossoms. Even through my plaid, wool skirt and white, cotton panties I could feel a growing hardness within his baggy pants. Tilting my head back, I whispered in his ear, "I'm so happy we'll be close next year. I can hardly believe you'll be in Boston!" I had loved him for so long; why had it taken me an etenity to realize it? Gina used to always tell me that I was all book-smarts and no common sense. I was definitely beginning to believe her. Turning in A.J.'s arms, I stood on tiptoes, leaning into him. Slowly bringing my smiling lips to meet his, I felt like my insides had turned to mush and that the only thing holding me upright was his hold on me. Our bodies matched up perfectly... just like our souls... When I finally pulled away from the kiss, I leaned my head on A.J.'s shoulder, sighed contentedly, and looked around the roof, observing the actions of my friends and co-workers....
