Regardless, apparently I have the same name as an Emory grad so I keep receiving emails soliciting donations to the university. Not having matriculated from that particular institution I merely ignored them until this story broke. At which time I wrote back, "No way in hell will you ever see a penny from me until you start recruiting students with at least a modicum of maturity." And provided them a link to the article. Haven't heard back since, but I'll post any excuse they care to provide here. And if I don't hear anything back, well, that too is a reply of sorts.

A Toronto film industry executive is pulling his company’s support for York University’s Cinema and Media Arts program due to a mural he said is “anti-Israel.”

“It made me sick to my stomach and very angry,” Paul Bronfman said this week when describing his initial reaction to learning of the portrait. “We live in an amazing city, an amazing country, and to have this happening under our noses is disgusting. It’s subtly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel. It’s anti-Canadian.”

The mural is currently displayed in the York University Student Centre. It shows a person looking at a bulldozer close to a building while holding rocks. The person is shown wearing what looks like a Palestinian flag with a map of Israel without its borders. At the bottom of the mural, the words “justice” and “peace” can be seen along with other text.

Bronfman, who is on the board of directors at the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, said he learned of the mural, which reports say has been in the centre since 2013, through his work with the organization.

Bronfman is also chair and CEO of William F. White International Inc., a provider of movie and theatrical production equipment. He said the company provided thousands of dollars of equipment and technical services as well as access to seminars, student lectures, trade shows and open houses.

“I’m finally putting my money where my mouth is. I’m withdrawing all of our student filmmaker support from William F. White International,” Bronfman said. He said he withdrew the support as of Friday.

It is pretty ridiculous. I am not a supporter of The Donald, but I do support the Constitution. They might claim the signs are vandalism but even that is silly, because the chalk will be washed off the next time it rains.

And I think the goofy professors and students are trying to stifle free speech.

Regardless of how ridiculous the whole matter seems at first glance - these are intelligent people and I doubt that they overreacted only because of some pro-Trump campaign slogans.

Taken only by themselves - the writings seem pretty benign. And if this was just an isolated incident - yes: their reaction would have been really stupid.

But I suspect that these aren't isolated incidents and there's a certain context to it, like a recent cluster of incidents of racist attacks or or hate speech that were written previously in that same place or so on. Who the hell knows… .

Both, yes this generation is full of cry babies and not just young ones. Also being a cry baby means you want freedom of speech crushed because you are too much of a baby to ever hear anything you don't want to.

What the hell ever happened to things like live and let live and just rolling your eye when you heard something you felt was wrong and leave it at that.
