Emma had been friends with Tommy for as long as she could remember and in love with him maybe even longer then that, he was a constant in her life when many others let her down Tommy was always there for her, he was the best friend any girl could ask for and any guy any girl would be lucky to be with but she could never ever begin to tell him how she feels, she knew it would ruin there friendship and she could never fail to lose him.... all through middle school, and all through high school and college they remained the best of friends, through family deaths, disappointments, break ups and anything one could imagine, they remained best friends. Now all these years later, she was still a shy yet desperately in love with him and he was getting married she knew it was to late to ever tell him now how she felt.

She promised to always be there for him but with his impending wedding she had decided it best to stay away from him. Even more of a secret was how bad she wanted everything with him, in and out of the bedroom, he was the one person she wanted more then anyone and yet it would never ever happen and she knew that.

Tommy knew something was off with his best friend but he just couldn’t place what it was......

(Deep love, angst, and preferably some dom/sub mixed in.)

Thomas David Haskall.

Thomas, or Tommy as he was known by the select few who he actually did call his friends had grown up as one of the more awkward amongst the social circles. Not quite a nerd, but too intelligent to be a jock, Tommy hadn't really fit in anywhere. That was, except when it came to Emma. They had grown up together, and though Tommy was four years older than her; no one had been more her 'rock' indeed.

Through time, he had secretly wanted Emma for himself as well, and yet, they both mirrored one another in regard to being so frightened of ruining the one 'good thing' in his life. Since 'becoming a man' Tommy had filled out physically, going from a lanky teenager to a handsome, tall, and kind man. He had come so close so many times to telling Emma how he felt about her, and yet at the same time he always stopped himself, paralyzed that she would be put off by his love for her, and not want to continue their relationship in any way.

I can't lose her... better to have her as a friend than as nothing at all.

It was that thought which had ultimately seen him 'branching off'. He had wanted nothing more than to tell Emma the truth, and yet through all those hardships there had also been moments of amazingness. Birthdays, when she had finished her schooling to become a teacher, when he had finished school for Business Administration. When he had landed his first major corporate job, when she had gotten her first 'real' position and smashed it out of the park.

Of course, there were challenges, but life was full of challenges. Tommy had learned long ago that if one were to stop for each challenge one wouldn't have gotten anywhere in life. Instead, Tommy had met Sophia. Sophia was a lot like Emma in a few ways actually. Both Sophia and Emma were slim petite women. Both had kindness to them, however Sophia was a lot more straight forward than Emma was... and Sophia was a brunette, whereas Emma was a blonde.

Tommy had ended up 'giving up' on his own little fantasy life where he would take Emma and have her all for himself and had 'settled' for Sophia. Sophia was a doctor and between Tommy and her they made a cute couple. Everyone was thrilled with the engagement, but ever since that announcement something seemed a bit off to Tommy between Emma and him. Of course, he wanted to keep things at least the same between them. He knew it was a 'long shot' as, well he'd be married to another woman and she'd be all alone which did actually bother him quite a BIT but... well it might have just been his imagination, but he imagined that she had been pulling away. They didn't text nearly as much, he didn't see her or talk to her, it almost felt like something was wrong, but he didn't know why.

All right that's it... I've got to figure out what's going on...

Tommy had decided enough was enough. He had sent her a few texts trying to meet up with her and have a nice dinner as friends like they ALWAYS did every Friday night and she was brushing him off. He wasn't having it! They always had Friday night dinner and he'd be damned if he let that tradition die out. They hadn't missed a Friday in at least 15 years, and it wasn't going to happen now, not if he had anything to say about it!

Emma hated not talking to Tommy all the timebut at the same time, she also was finding it harder and harder to keep her feelings to herself. It was all becoming a bit much for her all the hiding and seeing him with Sophia who in Emmas eyes she would never ever compare to, Emma deep down was a very self concious person, and Sophia was everything she wasn’t even if there was also something about sophia she didn’t trust yet she couldn’t put her finger on it and she would never ever tell Tommy that, she never wanted to do or say anything that would ever hurt him in any type of way.

He was getting married she thought to herself, glad that it was friday and she would be able to unwind, even if she went out by herself although she and Tommy had always hada standing order date that neither of them would ever miss, but at the same time she had to go out and meet someone she couldn’t compare every man she met to her best friend it wasn’t fair to her or them, she sighed as she sat grading some papers, then she would shower decide what to wear and head out without her best friend.

She was so frustrated and she needed to burn off some steam, and try to find someone or hell maybe have a one night stand to try and forget about Tommy and his wedding even if just for a few days.

Emma was not a slut in any shape or form, she was no virgin either, but at the same time, none of the men she had ever been with even compared to Tommy, nor were they very good, or at least none of them gave her a orgasm, she always had to finish herself.

She took a deep breath she could not concentrate so she stopped grading the papers and went to take a hot shower. She finished quickly and decided what to wear and settled on what she thought was a decent outfit. She would be lying if she didn’t say she felt guilty about avoiding her best friend, but at the same time she thought it was for the best, surely after he was married, Sophie would not appreciate him hanging around with her all the time, even if that hurt like hell she needed to do what was best for her and for Tommy, just thinking of him not being a big part of her life made her want to cry but she needed to keep it together and try and move on.

She sighed and decided to have a glass of wine to settle her nerves before she left her house.

Tommy was so used to talking to Emma that not having that there… well it felt wrong. That, beyond anything else seemed to tell him that something beyond just her being busy with school work grading papers or whatnot was going on. After all, she had always been busy, so that was a cop out reason if he did say so himself. He himself had tried sharing some of his own feelings with Sophia, and while she did seem to like talking as well, it… well it didn’t feel the same. Tommy didn’t know why, but he kept comparing his relationship with Sophia to the one that he had with Emma.

Maybe that was why she’s been off recently…

Sophia seemed to completely understand that Tommy and Emma were JUST friends, and besides, she had her own girls night out every Friday, so she didn’t begrudge her fiancée when he texted her letting her know that he was going out for his traditional dinner out with his friend. It was cute to her, and besides Tommy was engaged to her, he wouldn’t do anything with the blonde lesser version of herself… or at least that’s what she thought to herself.

For Tommy however he thought that Emma was FAR superior than Sophia but he also knew women were much harder on themselves than men were. He did care for Sophia… but over the last month they just hadn’t jived as much as he would have liked for a pair of people getting ready to get married, but then again he also had heard weddings were stressful events. Of course he was happy with Sophia, but in the back of his mind he couldn’t help but wonder what could be if he actually had the balls to tell Emma how he felt.

From work, Tommy headed over to Emma’s place. Tommy’s prized achievement when he had gotten his first ‘real job’ in Corporate had been to buy a black Audi A5. Of course it wasn’t the MOST expensive luxury car out there, however it was like Tommy, economical but classy. He also had chucked his suit jacket into the back seat so he was in his usual suit outfit which of consisted of a dark navy pair of pleated dress pants, white dress shirt and a simple gray tie. Pulling up he parked the car and hopping out he paused for a moment and considered what he was doing.

I’m just getting her for our normal dinner, right?

He was debating if he was doing the right thing, but well, he didn’t want to lose his best friend in the entire world and he didn’t know why but it felt as though that’s what was happening… and he hated it. So, taking another final breath he sucked up all his courage and stalking up to her door he knocked heavily on the door. He HOPED that she was there. He didn’t know really, but well she always seemed to take a bit to get ready on Fridays, so well, he was hoping that she hadn’t gone out without him already!

She knew she was wrong for ignoring him, it was wrong and something she would have ever done in the past even if or when they did get mad at one another, she felt bad but what choice did she really have. She knew if she finally did succumb and he asked her what was wrong she would have a hard time making something up she was not a good liar especially when it came to lying to Tommy. She sighed to herself as she swished her wine around the glass not really in the mood to drink it. She hated the fact that she felt something was off with his fiancé or maybe that was just her own insecurities and her own jealousy setting in. She wanted to scream in frustration but contained herself.

Fuck me she thought to herself she was in a hell of a pickle, and there was no way out she couldn’t admit her feelings she was not a home wrecker that was for damn sure.

She thought it was nice that Tommy and Sophia had a good relationship where they both trusted each other so why was she having such a hard time wanting to spend time with him, was it just her feelings or because she had some strange gut feeling that something was off with Sophia. She chewed on her lip she felt like she was in high school all over again Tommy was always hot so it seemed he was always in some kind of a relationship.

Emma was debating now if she really wanted to go out, it didn’t feel right going out without him but soon she would have to get used to that people were different once they were married. Emma shook her head and stood to dump the rest of her wine down the drain, she just wasn’t feeling it.

She wondered what he was doing tonight she knew of Sophia’S girls night out and she felt even more guilt that her best friend would be all alone. She shook her head knowing this was just something she was going to have to get used to after all. She started to straighten the living room up cleaned up her students paper and placed them neatly in her office where she would finish tomorrow evening.

When she was done she looked herself over in the mirror and thought she looked good enough.

She thought against going out going back and forth with herself it was like she were two people fighting against her own feelings oh for gods sake she was a grown ass woman, this was not high school and more and she didn’t have a damn person to answer to. She jumped out of her skin when she heard the loud knock on her door what the hell she didn’t have any packages coming. Did the neighbor lose there keys again she thought with a laugh, good thing they looked out for one another. She shook her head and pulled open her door. “Jesus Janet I thought you were the police.” Until she looked up and saw a familiar set of gorgeous eyes. “Tommy.” She sounded surprised.

Tommy was frustrated, but not really with Emma. Of course he WAS frustrated that things seemed to be off between them but… well he was frustrated that he had never taken the chance to tell Emma how he felt. Even as he had driven over to Emma’s place he had wrung his hands around the steering wheel as he considered everything.

Tommy, you’re an idiot…

He knew Emma was his best friend, but… well it went even deeper than that with them. She had been there when he had been heartbroken by Kelly Thompson who he had dated for two years and had loved as well… he had been there when she had been dumped as well. They had shared tears, laughter, and so many special moments. He didn’t know what to do and though his other best friend Greg listened to most of his issues, his inner debate between Sophia and Emma was something that Tommy hadn’t shared with anyone at all.

As he finally made it to her place though he had knocked on her door. They usually picked a place and met up there for their Friday night dinners, but… well she hadn’t responded to his texts pretty much all week, so he figured that he’d better drop by her place and get things sorted out. As she said that about the police he couldn’t help but smirk as he looked to her.

Damn Emma… you look good.

His thoughts remained there however he was quick witted and so he responded to her comment.

” Well you know… I COULD be the friend police… you know, the one’s that govern people who ignore texts?”

He tried to smile but… well he looked stressed. He didn’t really know what to do with his hands either so he eventually decided to shove them into his pockets.

” Emma… what’s going on?”

He knew that something was going on with her, or namely with them both, and it was clear Tommy had taken the time to come here because… well she was his best friend and he’d be damned if he lost that with her!

Emma nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard that loud knock on her door invading her thoughts, which for a moment wasn’t such a bad thing after all. She was glad she hadn’t been holding her glass cause surely she would have dropped and broken it. She took a deep breath knowing she had to get herself together the last thing she wanted was for her neighbor to see how much of a wreck she really was.

Get your shit together Emma she told herself.

She shook her head here she was not only thinking out loud but she was often talking to herself now to was she losing her mind she thought to herself she thought she might be, part of her felt like she was after all. She didn’t want to lose her best friend but she figured it be best if they gave each other some space well rather she gave him some space even though it hurt her more then she cared to admit. She missed being close to him, she missed him but she had to try and give him space he was after all getting married. She sighed why did things have to be so damn complicated.

She moved over to her door a little out of breath still trying to relax after everything that was going through her mind. She didn’t expect to open the door to her best friend he was however always one to surprise her.

She actually knew she looked shocked even though she tried to hide the shocked expression on her face.

She instantly felt guilty at his words. “I am so sorry Tommy, I haven’t been intentionally trying to ignore you, there has just been a lot going on.” She partially lied.

She bit her lip and gave him a half smile trying to hide that something indeed was bothering her, maybe she could give him part of the truth and leave out the rest especially her feelings.

She took a deep breath when he asked her what was going on and she wasn’t quite sure how to answer him.

“You going to stand there, or come in.” She said teasing him as she so often did in the past she didn’t want things to be awkward between them yet at the same time hiding your real feelings from someone that knew you so well was a hard thing to do.

Tommy hadn't known that he had made her jump... the truth was he didn't know what exactly was going on between Emma and himself. He had sent text after text to her trying to get her talking to him but... well she hadn't responded. In his own mind he thought maybe she was angry with him over the fact that he was engaged. He didn't really understand women at all, but then again, most men didn't, right?

As she moved over to the door and leaned against the frame slightly, His eyes couldn't help but look her over. Her nice dress, the thigh high boots which suited her just as well... it all worked for her, but it also kind of told him she had been intending to go out, clearly without him. The shocked look on her face honestly kind of pissed him off as well... Surely, she hadn't thought he'd go without her 'dissapearing' from his life without some follow up... did she? So many different feelings and emotions were going through his mind right then.

As she said that she hadn't been intentionally trying to ignore him he kind of gave her a 'Are you serious?' kind of look, though he shifted somewhat from heel to heel. He knew a lot of things had been running through his head as he had made his way over here... he had planned to give her a hard time over ignoring him since... well they had been a part of each other's lives for so long, but... well seeing her now he found himself somewhat a loss for words.

As she asked him whether he was going to stand there or come in... for a few seconds he almost considered stalking away and saying forget it. Seeing her though, honestly things felt 'right'. He didn't really understand it, but all that anger that he had been holding onto just kind of... dissipated when he saw her. He finally nodded and moved past her into her place, feeling even more frustrated with himself than anything else.

Coming into the middle of the living room though he did turn on his heels and crossing his thick strong arms over his broad chest he narrowed his eyes at her.

" I'll let that little partial lie go, if you tell me why you've been ignoring me. We haven't missed a dinner night... well ever Emma."

He took a slight breath and seemed to try to not let his frustrations lead his words. He never wanted to hurt her, she knew that, and though such a thing wasn't possible especially since he was engaged to another woman... he had honestly thought, perhaps naively that they could still be friends the way that they had been.

He stared her down... but inwardly he thought to himself: God she looks good... He mentally shook his head... he had to keep himself together... and figure out what was going on between them!

She didn't want him to worry about him when he had a wedding to prepare for she was the one being ridiculous and she knew it. She took a deep breath she had to get herself together she knew she didn't want to lose him, but at the same time if she didn't break ties now wouldn't it be even harder after the marriage. She loved him and losing him would kill her, but she wanted his happiness more then she wanted her own. She could feel her heart racing, deep down she knew he'd come, he'd always come she thought to herself.

She felt his eyes on, she knew he was studying her trying to decipher in his own mind what was wrong with her. Stop it Tommy she thought to herself he was making her nervous he knew her to well sometimes she thought. She felt like a child being questioned by her father she thought to herself. She bit her lip and looked away from him for a moment.

There's that damn look he always gave her when he knew she wasn't telling him the truth. Damn him for knowing her so well she thought to herself. He could see she was conflicted and he could also see the guilt in her eyes as again she looked away biting her lip a dead giveaway at how she was feeling.

She knew he was upset she could see it all in his body chemistry then again they knew each other so well and he did in fact have every right to be upset with her. She gave him a shy smile as he walked into her house. She took a deep breath and moved out of his way.

Oh hell here we go she thought when he crossed his arms and gave her his signature lookthat he was irritated with her, but God did he look so hot standing there angry with her... Emma stop she told herself realizing her face was now a shade if crimson.

He was right she thought as she sighed and plopped on her sofa with a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry Tommy, I've been a complete idiot." She said as she looked up at him.

"Sit with me. " She said softly and smiled when he sat beside her.

"Honestly I thought me giving you space was what you might need, your getting married in less then two weeks, I didn't want to be in anyone's way, besides your fiance wouldn't want me around after the wedding much... I thought this was the best way, I should have been honest from the beginning. " She said softly and looked away for a moment embarrassment creeping up her face.

Tommy didn’t really know what was going on between himself and Emma. The truth was that this whole wedding business seemed to just throw everything up in the air. Getting married to Sophia… well it was both amazing, and also weighing on him because of his feelings for Emma. When she hadn’t answered his texts Tommy’s thoughts had raced through all sorts of different possibilities. Was she angry with him over his engagement? Did she feel like he was leaving her behind? Did she hate him? Had she gotten into an accident and hadn’t told him? The last possibility didn’t really make sense because of how close Tommy was to Emma’s family as well, but… well his thoughts weren’t the most realistic at the moment.

As she bit her lip and looked away from him though, he sighed ever slightly and stalked past her into her place. Of course he was angry with her. She hadn’t spoken with him in a good while now, she clearly was all right physically, and here she was all dressed up as though she was going out on their dinner night without him.

As she plopped onto the couch and said that she was a complete idiot, he couldn’t help but quirk an eyebrow in a mixture of curiosity as well as to say you don’t say? Yet as she asked him to sit with her, he let out a slight sigh as he couldn’t keep such anger with her pent up for long, so letting out that sigh he let his arms relax as he made his way over and sat down beside her, though he made sure to sit angled towards her, his eyes demanding answers.

As she explained about giving him space, his thoughts only rambled around inside his own mind as he frowned when she said that she thought that she might be in someone’s way. As she spoke about Sophia though Tommy’s frown deepened even more. When she turned her head away though Tommy was quiet like he usually was when he was thinking things over. Yet after only a few seconds he couldn’t help but reach out and pressing his smooth, warm and strong fingers up against the side of her face he gently pulled her head back so that she was ‘forced’ to look at him.

" Emma..."

Tommy felt horrible… and even worse was looking at her, looking at those lips of hers… he ached to kiss her… to tell her that he craved not Sophia but rather Emma. Such a confession would only make things ‘worse’ wouldn’t it?

" You’re never in anyone’s way… you’re the best part of my whole life."

Tommy fell quiet for a long minute. She knew Tommy hadn’t been raised in the best of households. His father had been a quiet drunk who abused both Tommy and his mom, his mother had tried to ‘take the brunt’ for Tommy, but due to that combined with his social awkwardness in elementary and high school Tommy didn’t have many friends. Even with his success in careers now, Tommy wasn’t the best at expressing his feelings or letting other people ‘in’. It was his fear of losing Emma which kept Tommy from telling her the truth, but in less than two weeks she would lose him to another woman as well. Looking back to her Tommy did move his fingers from her cheek and instead ran his fingers through his hair.

" I know things have been… hectic recently, but I really did… and do want to keep you in my life Emma… I don’t want to lose you."

She hated this she had never been one to shy away from him in the past she wished she could call her sister and tell her what she was feeling but Trisha was pregnant and didn’t need any added stress worrying about her little sister. She was close to her family and she was grateful for that but her family also pressured her to be the best at everything and that’s why when stuff bothered her Tommy was her go to person. She hid things well for the most part but hiding the way she felt about her best friend was becoming harder and herder every day. She didn’t want to feel this way she had tried not feeling this way but no man ever measured up to him, maybe that was the real problem she thought to herself. She chewed on her lip her thoughts were all over the place and she needed them to stop she felt as if she were on a never ending roller coaster and she just wanted to get off.

She hated this she had never felt so unsure about anything in her life before, she wished it was Monday at least when she was teaching it kept her mind focused on things besides her best friend, her heart broke every time she looked at him knowing he would never really be hers at least not in the way she wanted him to be. She could see he was angry and that bothered her but she also knew she deserved it. She took a deep breath if she didn’t get herself together right now she knew he would see right through her.

She couldn’t help but smile a bit at the look he gave her when she admitted that she was a idiot how was it then even when he was angry he could still make her smile. She looked at him softly her face a bit red however when he turned slightly towards her and she knew in his own way he was demanding answers from her especially the way his eyes read her over.

She however felt a little better when she admitted most of her feelings to him although she would never admit that she was deeply in love with him. Just looking at him sitting there made her think of all the things she wanted to share with him, to do with him, he was so damn sexy she thought to herself. She sighed once more getting this off of her chest was exactly what she needed and now she felt 50 percent better. She had to look away for a moment admitting all this might be freeing but she still felt rather stupid. Her whole body tingled when he gently touched her face and turned her gently to look at him, just his touch sent shockwaves through her or maybe it was the way he looked at her she wasn’t sure all she knew was this was all becoming a bit to much.

The way he said her name, it made goosebumps climb all over her skin.

The way he looked at her made her feel even worse was he feeling sorry for her she thought to herself, because that was the last thing she wanted from him was for him to feel pity for her.

She felt warm and fuzzy when he told her she was the best thing in his life but deep down she knew Sophia was, it didn’t bother her knowing that but it did hurt.

He became quiet and that worried her she thought perhaps she had said to much. She smiled over and him the only thing at the moment she knew to do to try and calm herself down. She didn’t want to lose him she knew that, but she also didn’t want to ruin his relationship either. She breathed deeply when he removed his long fingers from her slim cheek and ran them through his hair, she closed her eyes for a moment relishing his touch.

“You’ll never lose me Tommy I just don’t want to get in the way and end up ruining your relationship..... can we forget all this and go to dinner?” She asked just wanting for this conversation to be over

Tommy really hated the fact that she had shied away from him. They had gotten along for so long, they were almost inseparable which honestly bothered him even more when he thought about it, because it made him feel guilty over the fact he had never told her his feelings. He just… well he was a coward when it came to relationships. Emma was one of the best parts of his life, and he didn’t want to lose that with her.

Her words did reassure him that he wouldn’t lose her, though as she asked that he smirked in that youthful handsome way of his, though he had a feeling there were still things she was hiding from him… at the same time he didn’t want to push her as well. He DID take note that she had closed her eyes when he had moved his fingers from her face as though she was reminiscing with the memory of his touch. He didn’t know for sure, so he just kind of chalked things up.

When she asked him if they could still go to dinner he rolled his eyes slightly with a smirk.

“ Oh I don’t know, I feel like I should punish you for being so elusive…”

He let that hang in the air for a few seconds before he added.

“ Of course we can go to dinner Emma… I wouldn’t want to have things any other way.”

To Tommy, he wanted things to be ‘normal’ between them… but was anything normal with such tumultuous time. Tommy didn’t know… but he DID know that he would do ANYTHING to have Emma in his life. If only each other knew how much they craved one another. For now though Tommy did get up to his tall six foot stature and offered her his hand.

“ Shall we?”

She didn't want to be distant God that was the last thing she wanted but at the same time she felt like it was what she needed. She loved how close they were to one another and she was grateful for it even if she didn't know where it might go to OR how they may end up but she had him here and now and that meant everything tO her. She took a deep breath thinking of the past and all the time they shared together she knew it wouldn't be like that anymore but at least he would and still wanted to be a part of her life. She wouldn't go anywhere for now on unless she knew he wanted her gone or if she really was getting in the way.

That smile that damn smile of his got to her every time. Her heart was racing and she knew that she was still hiding something and that was okay with her at least he wasn't pressing her for more information and he was taking her at her word. She felt sad when he removed his fingers from her face. She turned away once more not wanting him to see how red her face was at this very moment.

The way he rolled his eyes as her made her inwardly giggle she knew he was annoyed with her but at the same time she knew that he had forgiven her as well.

Oh God if he only knew what those words did to her he would be shocked she was sure, she thought of him punishing her and the thought instantly made her nipples hard instantly she put her arms across her chest.

Calm down Emma calm down she thought to herself.

She smiled up at him her whole face lightening up.

She took his hand as he pulled her to her feet and she looked at him gently.

Well her pulling back had been what had really caught Tommy off guard. After all the ups and down that they had gone through together, well they could read each other oh so well. For Tommy though he would never want her really gone. If only she knew the truth then perhaps things would have been oh so different.

Tommy could never hold onto his anger very long… especially when it came to Emma. Firstly, he didn’t REALLY want to be angry with her… secondly, well she was too important to him. Water under the bridge they said, and for Tommy he worked hard not to be angry with people. With Emma it had been much more frustration than real ‘anger’… though the frustration had also been mixed with a fear of losing her which had caused him to panic.

As she put her arms over her chest she may have thought that she was hiding her reaction to his words, but instead his eyes were drawn to her chest. As she did get up to her feet after taking his hand his eyes travelled back up to her face as he smiled gently to her as well.

” Come on, I know we’re both dying for a nice night out, and I’ll buy the drinks tonight.”

They both usually weren’t heavy drinkers, but they usually split the tab for the dinner. Tonight would be no different other than the drinks, Tommy would pay for the drinks, mostly because he really felt like… well he could USE a good stiff drink or two. Pausing though he considered things.

” What do you think Emma? Should we take an Uber?”

He was a responsible driver after all, and he wouldn’t drink more than a drink or two if he was driving, but with all the stress of the last few weeks, Tommy felt like he could go with getting a really good state of drunk going, but he didn’t want to do so if she wasn’t wanting to herself. Drinking alone was never fun in his books.

As he asked the question though he gave her hand a squeeze though added as well.

” Orrr, should we order food in and have our own dinner here?”

They hadn’t done THAT in a long time either, and that at least for the dinner part would solve the driving side of things as well. He was curious what SHE wanted. Did she really want to go out?

She sighed to herself would things stay the same or continue to change, she didn’t mind changes but he was her dearest friend she had girlfriends but none of them came close to Tommy. She hated it to sometimes how well he knew her she didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing sometimes. She hated the fact that they wouldn’t be as close after his wedding but at least he would still be a part of her life and that was enough for her. She shook her head she had time to think about the future right now she needed to her through the here and now.

She was grateful that he never held a grudge with her even when angry she knew she couldn’t handle that very well. She was glad that he had forgotten it as fast as it had happened she always loved him for that. She couldn’t help but smile to herself god Sophia was so damn lucky. She also felt very sad at the same time with that thought in her head.

She had noticed from the corner of her eye that he had noticed her chest but didn’t say anything to her then again that could have just been her imagination at the same time. His smile always melted her.

She smiled god yes she needed a good stiff drink, she had a whole liquor cabinet full she thought to herself mostly for when she entertained which was not very often.

She took a deep breath part of her wanted to go out the other part didn’t not that she didn’t want to spend time with Tommy but because she really didn’t want to be around anyone but Tommy and she knew she was being selfish in that moment. She looked at him and smiled again. Get it together Emma she thought to herself.

An Uber would be a good idea she thought to herself as she nodded her head.

She needed to drink it had been a long week at work and a longer month trying not to focus on his wedding and how much she was trying to keep it all together at the same time. She bit her lip when he started to speak again breaking her from her thoughts.

As he squeezes her hand she feels that electric current shooting through her entire body once more.

“Oooh I love the idea of staying in my liquor cabinet is fully stocked and I could go for some good greasy pizza.” She said with a giggle.

“Let’s do it, call Pizza Hut get what you want, I’m going to go change into something a little less uncomfortable.” She said kissing his cheek and heading to her bedroom.

There was one ‘message’ or mantra that Tommy had come to understand and accept. In life, the only constant was change. Things came and went, life was ever changing. With Emma, Tommy was thankful because in all the challenges he had faced, well he had always ‘had her’ with him, even if it wasn’t fully in the way that he had inwardly wanted. Something was better than nothing in his mind.

As she seemed to consider the options, Tommy knew she had a stocked liqueur cabinet. They had in the past enjoyed many ‘parties of two’. They seemed to just get along so well that things felt natural between them and Tommy never wanted that to end between them. He just offered some options, and as she shook herself out of the labyrinth of thoughts she had seemed to be lost in. When she giggled and said that he nodded to her.

” Sounds like a solid plan Emma. Go on then… your outfit looks quite good on you, I hope whatever you pick is even better.”

He mused with a grin, though even before she had any form of response Tommy had taken his phone out. They had ordered from Pizza Hut a few times so he had the number stored. He knew her favorite pizza just as she knew he loved the stuffed crust Hawaiian pizza. He was already calling them as he shooed her off with a smirk and one hand motioning.

Inwardly, he let out a mental sigh of relief. Things seemed like they would be all right. He DID somewhat hope she picked something sexy to wear when she changed, but he mentally also slapped himself. She was his friend, she didn’t think of him as a lover… did she? Her reaction to his mentioning of a possible punishment seemed to say something else, but… well maybe she was just kinky? A plethora of thoughts now racketed around in his mind as he ordered two pizza’s, a medium order of honey garlic wings as well as dipping sauces and some coca cola, mostly for mixing of drinks.

When he was done with that he set his phone into silent mode and set it face down onto the side table beside the couch as he reached up and loosened his tie before slipping it off his head. Setting it aside he also undid the top three buttons of his dress shirt before he headed over to the liqueur cabinet to see just what she had available. After all, with everything going on Emma wasn’t the only one who could go for a VERY stiff drink!

She felt nervous and she didn’t quite understand why this wasn’t the first time she had ever been alone with Tommy in her home so why did she feel so guilty this time she wondered. She wasn’t a home wrecker and she would never ever try anything with Tommy one because of there friendship and two because he was getting married and she would never do that to another woman. She took a deep breath and reminded herself they were nothing more then two friends hanging out like normal and that didn’t have to change now. She was glad that they were staying in now, she realized she didn’t want to go out that going out was just her way of trying not to constantly think about the what if’s and for her to try and move on. She bit her lip and shook her head telling herself once more to get her shit together.

She pondered just for a minute to just decide if staying in was what she really wanted to do and yes she thought that was the best thing for both of them. They deserved a quiet night in. She was grateful that they could spend this time together before the impending wedding. He could see that she was lost in her own thoughts for a moment or two. She couldn’t help but stifle a giggle for him.

She blushed at his comment it almost felt as though he was flirting with her but she was reading way to much into it she thought to herself, she didn’t know what or how she was feeling at the moment.

She felt her heart pounding against her chest as she didn’t respond and just headed into her bedroom to change into something more comfortable. She leaned against her door when she shut it trying to calm herself down and not get herself even into more of a tizzy. He knew what she like just cheese stuffed crust and he liked the pineapple, they had different taste in a lot of things but at the same time they were also alike in so many ways. Breath Emma she told herself as she looked through her dresser in decision of what to wear, she knew she could wear anything around him and feel comfortable considering he had seen her in less through the years.

She closed her eyes and looked in a mirror, he’s your best friend relax she mentally said to herself. She knew she wouldn’t lose him this night was more of a reassurance for her and it made her feel ten times better. She didn’t want to wear something to crazy for him but at the same time some odd part of her wanted him to see what he was missing god she was foolish. She screamed inwardly at her invading thoughts. She wondered what type of Sexual relationship he and Sophia had and then wanted to kick herself for that it was one none of her business two she didn’t want to picture that. She sat on her bed for a moment to calm herself down.

She changed rather quickly to calm herself down and to get out there so he didn’t think she had gotten lost on him. She had tequila her favorite, rum, jack, and bottles of wine. She changed finally as she headed out to the living room once more.

https://pin.it/2O3tVwz Good enough she told herself.

Tommy on his ‘end’ of things was as if not more conflicted than Emma was. He had harbored feelings for Emma for so long that the reality of bringing those thoughts to life just… well it seemed like such a fantasy to him. He didn’t really want them to be, but he was afraid of losing her. The fact that she had told him he would never lose her almost had brought the words to the surface of those thoughts. Yet he had stifled them again.

After all, he had Sophia to think about as well. He certainly couldn’t just dump her and take Emma as his own… could he? He and Sophia had been going strong for over a year now, it wasn’t as though he was being overly impulsive with his actions which was one of Tommy’s strongest features but also one of his greatest faults… he didn’t tend to ‘take chances’. Instead he took actions that he knew would work out, which was somewhat how he had ended up with Sophia. She was a doctor, he was a CEO. They both worked hard and had set lives. They could live together in peace so to speak.

With Emma, she was completely unknown and yet familiar as well. After all she was his best friend, but just like her he didn’t know whether he could tell her the truth before he got married. Perhaps this was a secret best left buried? He realized somewhat to his abashed mind that he had left himself in quietness as well, and that she had ‘snuck’ out of the room. Since she was gone Tommy sighed and getting the order for the food put through he kind of just looked around her house. It was a nice place and Tommy certainly had been there before. He found himself wondering what it’d be like to have this place with Emma… to come home to her every day and night.

Yet he kicked himself as well and walking over to the cabinet he took out some rum since she had some orange juice always available in her fridge and bringing it into the kitchen he opened the door, taking the jug of orange juice out he measured out the shots evenly and poured the orange juice into glasses that he also took out, mixing them with a spoon he was finishing up as she came out he grinned and gave out a whistle.

“ I swear Emma, you could wear a paper bag and make it look good.”

Tommy knew she had battled with her self-esteem for years. Why, he didn’t know but he honestly thought that she was beautiful in her own ways. Beyond that, the shorts did show off her legs, the shirt showed off her trim toned belly and upper chest. She may not have meant to be sexy, but she was to him. Pushing the drink towards her he grinned.

“ Come on, a toast to a nice quiet evening together.

He could do with a night of relaxation, and a few drinks certainly would help with that!

Emma was feeling so many different things and having so many different thoughts she didn’t know if she were coming or going at this point. She took a deep breath and thought about what things would be like had they ended up together would they live here together or get a new place for them, would they tell each other theee fantasies she had many that she never shared with anyone she slept with. What the fuck Emma she thought to herself she needed to stop these thoughts and stop them quick. She shook the cobwebs from her brain and got herself out of the thoughts of something that would never be. Besides he thought she was boring or so she had always thought that but he had stayed her friend regardless and she appreciated that.

Besides what did she have going for her over Sophia, Sophia was hot and she was well just Emma. She was a doctor, Emma was a high school math teacher... who definitely didn’t make close to the kind of money Sophia or Tommy made for that matter. She shook her head and took another long deep breath Sophia was everything that she wasn’t. Emma’s real dream was to be a writer but she had always been to afraid to put herself out there and send in any of her work. She loved being a teacher and was good at it and her students loved her but she still always felt like something was missing. She knew what it was and she had to get that out of her mind real quick.

Her and Tommy could never be and that was okay as long as they would always remain friends. He was getting married for Christ sake she thought to herself angry that she was even having these thoughts in this moment. She would never admit her feelings... she watched him as she stood in the door way she took notice that she had took his toe off and I did his top three buttons well fuck she thought he was so damn hot and he didn’t even know the effect he had on her. She noticed he was also in his own thoughts so she just watched him for a moment. She smiled to herself she looked so content for a moment, she knew he was stressed with the wedding and work, but was there something else bothering him? She wondered.

She finally walked to the kitchen and looked at him a smile spreading upon her face as she watched him mixing a drink for the two of them.

She shook her head at his comment and thought nothing of it as she also shrugged at it she knew she was far from hot.

Again she found herself comparing herself to Sophia. She had blond hair that she always kept mostly in a bun, Sophie had silky brown locks. She was fit but Sophie was fitter. She didn’t have quite As many curves and Emma did. She was everything that Emma wasn’t.

She smiled and took the drink and tasted him.

“To you and your happily ever after” she said clinking the glasses.

“Wait.” She said before going back to the liquor cabinet and grabbing the bottle of tequila.

“I’ve been saving this for a good occasion and this is a good time. Shots?” She asked softly.

Tommy didn’t know why he kept thinking of Emma in those ways. Maybe it WAS because he was getting married. One chapter of his life was coming to a close and another was opening. He didn’t know if he was making the right choice with Sophia but, well she seemed like a sure thing, so that was the best choice… right?

Yet his thoughts kept coming around to Emma. Sure she may not THINK that she was as beautiful as Sophia… but well Tommy certainly didn’t think so. While Sophia had brunette locks, Emma’s blonde hair was finer and softer to the touch, a fact that Tommy knew because he had ‘picked’ Emma up emotionally and held her through some of her worst break up’s.

While Sophia did clearly ‘win out’ in the breast compartment Emma’s ass was clearly firmer and though she wasn’t QUITE in the same fit shape that Sophia was, well she was softer and nicer to hold. All these comparisons went through his own mind though shaking his head out of it’s own cobwebs she had ‘snuck in’ on her own again.

As she said that he nodded, though something in his expression said this isn’t quite my happily ever after but even as she went over to the liqueur cabinet he downed his drink, though his phone did give a vibrate from the table. He considered ignoring it, but he had his phone set up so that when it was on silent mode only a select number of people would be able to disturb it. So it must have been important.

“ That sounds like a great idea. I forget where your shot glasses are. You pour them, I’m just going to check this message.

He headed over and bending slightly scooped up his phone. It had built in biometric security as he also used the phone for work purposes sometimes, so he pressed his finger into the reader, then held his eye up to the camera for the retina scan. Once it was unlocked He frowned slightly.

“ It’s from John, but he’s out in Las Angelas.”

He mused slightly about it, but opening up the message he kind of went REALLY quiet as he read through the message.

Hey Dude… I’m just out here in Las Angelas for that business leadership conference and am at this bar… I forget the name. It doesn’t matter. Am I wrong? Or is this Sophia?

Tommy’s stomach was in knots as he noticed a video was downloading and when it finished he opened up the file and watched. The quality wasn’t the BEST due to the lighting in the club, but it was DEFINITELY Sophia and she wasn’t alone… Instead she was wearing a sexy black dress that Tommy had bought her a few months ago and was grinding up against some ‘random guy’ that Tommy didn’t recognize. Beyond that, near to the end of the current song she pulled the guy down and kissed him outright.

“ What… the fuck?

Tommy’s words were quiet… but held both confusion as well as a dark venom that didn’t enter his voice… well ever. Tommy kept himself in check that was what made him such a good guy, but as many said… nice guys finish last. He found himself replaying the video… it must be a lie… there must be some kind of explanation… his mind was going a million miles a minute.

Emma knew they both could use a few shots and drinks and food she thought laughing to herself she was sure neither wanted to have a hangover or get sick. She thought about the way he seemed to be lost in his own thoughts as well he seemed to have something on his mind but she assumed it was just the stress of everything. She knew after tonight though she had to try and find someone to share her life with not to stand in Tommy’s shadow or compare every man she dated to him.

She wanted him. She needed him, worst off when she was alone at night in her bed, using her own boyfriend (her vibrated rather) she would find herself fantasizing about all the things Tommy would and could do to her. Dammit Emma stop she thought as she felt herself becoming damp. Enough was enough she thought.

Emma took a deep breath and sucked in some air trying to calm herself down before she completely lost her mind right now all she wanted to do was go into that kitchen sit him in the chair crawl into his lip, grind against him kiss him until he was begging for more.

The look on his face made her slightly confused but she didn’t think much of it just chalked it up to him worrying that maybe he wouldn’t be a good husband she knew how Tommy’s brain worked after all it was much like her own aside from him lack self confidence he knew he was hot. She smiled and got up from her seat and headed to her liquor cabinet to grab the bottle.

“No worries I’ll grab them, just sit and relax and wait for the food then we can begin maybe we can play cards or something put some music on.” She said though she felt she sounded a bit lame as she dug for the bottle finally getting it.

She let him alone for a few moments not wanting to invade his privacy it might be Sophie she thought to herself with a frown. She had no right to frown or be jealous. She checked her own phone and texted her sister quickly and let her know that she would see her at the wedding next week, and then silenced her own phone.

Her sister sent her a quick message back and told her she would pick her up and they could go together Emma was grateful for her she didn’t think she’d be able to stand the wedding without some support.

She sighed to herself and headed back towards the kitchen, grateful for a one story house at the moment though she always wanted something a bit bigger for a cat and a bigger back yard for a dog eventually.

She then stood at the door of the kitchen and watched him for a moment he was frowning as he looked at the message and she thought she had heard some back round noise she hoped everything was okay she thought to herself.

She heard him speak and walked in to face him gently.

“Hey you okay?” She asked softly though clearly she could see that everything was not okay, she hopped up on her counter and grabbed the shot glasses from her cabinet and then poured them both a few although at this point it looked like Tommy needed it more then her she walked over and placed one in front of him and went back over to her own that she left at the counter and hopped up sitting on the counter once more, as she looked over at him once more.

Tommy was… well he was devastated. He did madly send a text back to John saying that yes that was Sophia, but asking who the hell the guy was. He hit send but then John was texting back so Tommy had to wait… and at this point he wasn’t really paying attention to his surroundings nor was he actually noticing that Emma came over.

When she finally broke the silence and asked him if he was okay he shook his head slightly, and seeing that John was writing back he paused to remember to breathe though he was seeing red at the moment.

“ Not really, no.”

He let out a stressed sigh though and waited, the next text filling his worst fears.

I don’t know man, she came in with him like… a half hour ago. I wasn’t really paying attention but then she’s doing this… Send her a text as a test. If it’s really her then she’ll check her phone.

Tommy nodded slightly to the advice and popped open a secondary window before he was madly typing to Sophia.

Hey Babe, just checking you're having fun with your friends...

He shot it off and John on his end started up a new video. It took a few minutes more which Tommy filled by downing that shot of tequila quickly but then the video came through and Tommy played it out, his eyes almost bulging out of their ‘sockets’.

“ You fucking BITCH.”

He snapped it out as the video clearly showed Sophia taking her phone out of her cleavage which made sense as it was the only place it could have been ‘stored’ before texting Tommy back which Tommy HAD seen, she claiming that she was having a great time. Tommy couldn’t believe it… she was CHEATING on him? Why?! He was thoughtful, charming, kind, giving, and honest. He was almost shaking with rage as he kind of looked over to Emma as though lost.

” She’s fucking cheating on me!”

The words were filled with a mixture of anger, rage, pain and sorrow all at the same time. He couldn’t believe it, but… well the evidence was clear. He was left lost and unsure of ANYTHING at the moment… but he did manage to stagger over and collapse into the couch as his phone was set to the side. It was still unlocked, but Tommy didn’t want to see anymore.

Emma didn’t like the way Tommy seemed to stare off into space looking as if he had lost well as if he had lost one of his best friends. She took a deep breath a little confused less then 5 minutes ago he was fine and making jokes. Emma walked over to him and looked at him seriously for a moment worried that something had happened to Sophie or one of his other friends.

When he shook his head her heart broke and she needed him to talk to her and tell her he was fine or that rather whatever had made him this upset that they were okay.

She looked at him softly when he said no and backed off for a moment giving him some space as he was still texting the person that had seemed to upset him.

She stood one more up straight and walked over to the table before her bell rang letting her know the food had came as she went to grab it she paid quickly and told the driver to keep the change leaving a hefty tip before lugging the food in and leaving it on her coffee table before heading back into the kitchen where she had left Tommy for a moment.

She took a deep breath giving him space still to handle whatever was going on with his phone quickly she did not really want to drink whatever was happening was sobering her up and making her not want to drink.

She watched him she could see how red his eyes were along with his face, he was angry and she knew it.

When he said that she was cheating on him her heart broke and she was so furious with Sophie she wanted to punch little miss perfect in her face.

She watched as he walked into the living room. She grabbed the bottle of tequila and knew he was going to need it as she walked into the living room placing it on the counter. She took his phone that was still open and watched the video shaking her head as she turned the phone off and put it in a drawer.

“I’m so sorry.” She said softly and bit her lip. “Okay imma need you to eat then we’re going to get shit faced drunk.” She said and smiled at him taking his hand and smiled

Tommy was truly at a loss. After all everything had been going so well… or so he thought. Sophia and he had gotten along so well, he had trusted her… his mind was left reeling as he crumpled like that. He did notice her take his phone but he didn’t care either right then… right then he wanted to die. The woman he had professed his love to, who he was supposed to get married to in another week was cheating on him.

He had the proof, but that wouldn’t change how things looked when he called off the wedding. Emma knew Tommy was a very self-conscious man. He cared about not only his own self-image, but also what others thought of him as well. He was feeling numb… he felt like he should cry but at the same time, he felt too angry to cry.

When Emma said that, he nodded ever so slightly, though as she explained about getting shit faced drunk, that honestly sounded like the best plan right then.

“ All right… let’s do that Em.”

He didn’t shorten her name very often, it was kind of a pet name for her somewhat, but he ‘allowed’ her to bring the food over. As she did he did pick up the bottle of tequila and poured another shot, it quickly disappearing ‘down the gullet’, he drinking it down as he hissed from the burn of the alcohol but right then he also was trying to just… well not hyper focus on the betrayal which had him in stitches so to speak.

He looked so crushed… but she knew Tommy. Even this wouldn’t keep him down forever… and sooner or later Sophia would get hers, namely being dumped and that fancy ring he had gotten for their engagement ripped off her finger. In the meantime, there was pizza to be eaten, and alcohol to drink. He didn’t really talk much, but he DID eat… which was good, it would let him not throw up when he got shit faced drunk… namely with her!
