While surfing the net the other night, I came across what at first seemed shocking, but then peaked my interest. It was a .wmv clip of a nude woman bounded to some sort of restraining device, and another administering what appeared to be electric shocks with various charged instruments. Although the restrained person continually reacted to these shocks with an assortment of groans and little screams, the sounds appeared to be the result of more pleasure than pain. Is anyone familiar with these sorts of "toys", and if so, can you verify my observation of pain vs. pleasure. I'm not into pain, only pleasure.

I've only had experience with the violet wand and for me, it's not painful. Not dentist "dammit stop that" painful, anyway. It's "oh yummm, do it again!" pain.

It certainly isn't for everyone and though violet wands and TENS units are popular with enthusiasts, there are a variety of methods and ways which do not include those instruments. I saw a clip similar to what you describe recently where the restraint was just simple rope bondage and later an electrical cord, but the methods were not of the usual variety and deliciously sadistic, extreme, and stimulating. Can't say all the sounds were pure pleasure though, but suspect much of what was clearly painful and expressed as such was in itself translated to pleasure for all involved including the recipient. I would caution anyone who experimented to the extremes though as electricity is not something to be played with lightly and without a good knowledge of the dangers and physical limits in general and in relation to the one you play with.

All these devices can be used at different levels, of course. I would do a lot of research before attempting such play, as there is a (admittedly small) chance of serious harm.

I've googled the TENS units referred to above. They look something like an instrument I once had applied by a physical therapist last year, while treating an elbow injury. She attached some adhesive pads around my elbow and the machine sent gentle pulses of electicity through the area, making my muscles move, simulating exercise without actually moving or straining (or so it was explained to me at the time). During these therapy sessions I couldn't help but wonder what my reactions would be to those same pulses delivered to more sensitive parts of my anatomy. Now that I know that others are using similar instruments as toys, I'm going to have to embark on a cyber shopping trip to purchase one -- any recommendations? (TENS only -- no cattle prods for me, thank you.)

Best tip I can offer is try shopping from actual medical supply sites and you will get a better product for a lower price compared to adult type sites.

Incubus bought our violet wand through EBay. We were introduced to electroplay at a play party. Another Dom, with My Master's permission, demonstrated the use of the wand on me. It's always a gamble buying used items from afar, but the set we received is in great condition & works really well, although we doubt that it can really cure the 1001 various diseases & conditions as described in it's how to use booklet LOL.

once had a TENS unit used on me but i have to say it was sadly lacking. not very strong and left me wanting...perhaps that was the idea? i dont know... what i do know is that it was nothing compared to what ive seen a violet wand do.

As far as I know it is the TENS Unit that is used by most and on some of the medical sites I have checked out they seem to have a variety on offer with varying strengths and equipment provided in the cost..and of course with the varying levels etc., comes a variety of prices as well. Recently my friend surprised me with a tens unit. I wasn't really eager to play with it, but he'd been curious and wanted to try. He spent a small fortune on so many attachments too. I found that it can be incredibly fun, definitely interesting and intense at times.
