Need help. Ill post pic of it later but it looks just like a tennis racket with 2 wire grids.

Ok, I got one, put the 2 D cells in and turned it on. Figured I'd try it on my arm to see how it felt, Nothing. Hmmmm. Hit it a little harder, Nothing, hand, leg, nothing. Figured it was junk. Grabbed around the frame so one finger was on one side and the other finger touched the other side and .... BAM. After I got up off the floor and restarted my heart (oh, dont do this with your left hand like I did) I figured well, this is exciting!! NOT. I then found a willing moth and wailed away at it until contact and zzzzaaappp. One dead moth.

So, how does this thing work as a toy? Being very much an electrician I know the details and what its doing but how do I get contact through the grid without tiny wings and legs. Do you have to connect a wire to the other grid and attach the wire to her somewhere? Or does this just become a scary paddle that doesnt really shock a human unless you touch both grids?

Anyone know? I'm sure Ive read that people have these in their toy collection.

All we do with ours is contact on one side with the flesh and it zaps hard enough to hurt and at times leave a mark.

I've played with one of these on a totally innocent level. My mom bought one and we zapped a couple of flies with it and well I'm a bit too curious for my own good. I wanted to know how bad the zap was, so I touched it right in the middle and got just enough of a shock for me to jump and my fingers tingle for about 10 mins. I would think that if you used it as a paddle the wires would meet no problem. but I don't have any experience using it in that fashion.

See I have one of those and when I touched it with my fingers I heard the pop but no real jolt was felt. Maybe it's because my hands are mostly numb from medication right now.

It did fry the bugs though so I know it works. LOL.

I have five of these things. Three have the D cells and the two I just recently purchased have AA cells. They are all pretty much the same, other than that. The D cells will probably last longer than the AA cells.

But, I know what you mean about the thing not working as you intended. The problem is, it wasn't made to be what you are wanting to use it for. Mine have these plastic lightening bolt type designs on both sides of the grid, to keep them from zapping the user by mistake. It's a protective, almost failsafe measure. The bugs still have enough space to fly through and get zapped, but a human us much less likely to get zapped, because of the plastic design.

So, I cut the protective plastic off of one, to see if that worked. It did. I onlly cut it off on one side, leaving the other side as kind of a backboard, because the wires inside are not that sturdy. They might need extra support. You don't want the three layers of wire (the two outer layers on either side and the hot layer inside) to touch for longer than a split second. Any longer and you might end up melting some wire (in the dark, it sometimes looks like you're welding...LOL). Like I said, they aren't made to do what you intend.

In fact, I'd only remove what's necessary of the plastic, so you don't make it too weak and break it sometime in a heated session. Or, you might find a way to rig your own support covering, that can be added in such a way it doesn't get in the way when you want to swat something (or someone).

Watch out...the D cell units can cause quite a spark. But, I guess you've already found that out.

Maybe the US version is different from the Euro one. Ours hasn't got any plastic protective layers, just the metal wires going across. It certainly hurts enough to make it interesting, and is even worse on nipples than anywhere else....though perhaps that is because my nipples are under constant torture so extra sensitive. Have to try and get a pic of him using it one night with the lights out as it sends off some cool sparks.

The ones I played with would not work if more than two wires were touched. I think it's a safety feature so you won't hurt yourself. These ones did not have any plastic coating, where solid wire, and could pack a wallop. Not good for spanking because of the safety feature; however, great on nipples and the end of a cock.
Dread.

The ones I have were made as novety items and are just for swatting bugs. They were not meant to be used as BDSM toys. So, that is probably why they have the plastic designs over the wires, to help keep human arms from getting hit in error.

But, with a little snip here and another there, that plastic covering can be removed. Like I said in my first post, I did just that on one of mine. It works fine, that way. It's just one of those U.S. "PC" things that companys do, now, to keep from being sued.

Some little old lady could get zapped and sue for every buck they have. The things only sell for $3.99 and $2.99, now. IF they had to pay for lawyer fees, that price would really go up, I'm sure.

Ours are also sold and designed for bug zapping through gardening and hardware outlets. Could be that Europe is not litigation happy as the US and Oz so it isn't a concern. Ours range in price from 2-5 Euro depending where you buy it and if you are aware of how chep they are elsewhere.
