Feel bad about ragging Jeeter yesterday after his performance last night.

Sunny and cold here today 4C and a light breeze. Brisk and bracing the kinda' day that makes you want to go for a walk in the woods with a good dog a nice shotgun and a hip flask full of cognac and grand marnier.... just sit on a rock overlooking a brook and have a big swig..... swirl it around your mouth feeling the pleasant burn and the hint of orange then let it trickle down your throat feeling the warmth spread from your stomach....

Sorry Sparky I have a thing for fucking with people suffering hangovers. I'm guessing that description either has you wanting some hair of the dog or ready to retch.

Tequila offers tremendous value for the money doesn't it Sparky. Seeing how no matter how much H2O you drink or how often you brush your teeth ..... the taste is still there... yummy

Recently got this nice little 12ga single. Nice little grouse gun. Given to me by a guy who'd had it in a closet for 50 years. I cleaned it up and - cool.

the fucking things make me nervous.

Make sure (because of its age) that it isnt a "damascus" barrel. I love shotguns, I have six. And Sparky up here in the North Woods its "partridge" (spruce or birch) not grouse or more correctly Ruffed Grouse.

I dunno'about the Tequilas, I quite enjoy some of the anjejo's. I know the theory that alchohol is alchohol is alchohol, but Tequila seems to have a weird effect on me. Normally I am the worlds calmest drunk but give me more than 2 or 3 Tequilas and I turn in to Cochise. Not beligerent or anything just a bit wild eyed and up for a "dare' or any other type of foolishness.

I am a decent shot with a handgun and they certainly have there palce but the idea that you have to make a far more deliberate movement to point a rifle or shotgun in a "bad" direction is more comforting than the fact that with a simple wrist movement you can take a handgun through 90 degrees of arc.

Damascus barrels. This is a means of manufacture common amongst some older shotguns whereby instead of the barrel being cast or forged from a single homogenous piece of steel it was made from many tightly wrapped "strips" of iron or steel that were then forged. If the gun is less than a hundred years old it is probably not a "damascus" barrel. It almost looks like massive rifling inside the barrel. The worry is that over time the bonds between these strips weaken providing the possibilty of the end of your weapon looking like Elmer Fudds after Bugs has stuck a carrot in it.... and your face wont be blackened, it will be gone. If you aren't sure take it to a gunsmith.

The temperature in the northern plains is 45 degrees and steady, wind from the east at 1 mph, barometric pressure is holding steady at 29.87 inches. We have partly cloudy skies, looking for a high of 63 with a 20% chance of precipitation.

So I'm walking downtown to get a pack of smokes and somebody goes "hey" and whistles, like you would if you were calling a dog, and this real ugly fucker, sitting with his pan-handling friends, beckons me with his index finger.

I'm charmed instantly. I say "You can't make me come with just your finger."
