Here is my idea for a story line, I can neither confirm or deny that it comes from personal experience with PE...

As she researches the issue she discovers the concept of training a man to overcome the problem. She finds methods, tutorials, and programs that she is eager to try. He is also eager for a solution and willing to do anything to please her. He already has become a fantastic pussy eater to compensate for his hair trigger. They embark on a self help regime that is fraught with set backs but shows some promise. She realizes that just researching methods is falling short of their goal so she seeks some third party help. Eventually she finds a sexual therapist that is a specialist in this issue.

You can take that concept and go so many ways with it. I have come up with several scenarios and directions since I first read the OP last night.

In addition, clitoral stimulation often needs to be added to penetration sex for orgasm. I wrote about that in my story, "A Case of Hysteria". Unfortunately, Freud and others promoted penetration sex alone; and this has created a false societal view of penetration sex. This means that men may often think that penetration sex must be continued until the woman orgasms. A way to extend the erection allows there to be clitoral stimulation, though. It may be a false notion that the man and the woman need to climax at the same time, but the notion exists. There are some ways that aid in extending the amount of time to ejaculation that do not involve drugs. My plan is to make those ways part of the solution in the story. First, you grossly overestimate Freud's influence.
Second, science, in the terms we understand it today ("scientific method," etc) is a new arrival -- some place its advent in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Freud himself can hardly be categorized as scientist.

I've used premature ejaculation for comedy in a couple of my stories.
