Anyone here ever use it before?

I've seen the websites, I want testimonials.

I didnt take it but my friend does and the side effects sucked for a little bit but by far it has been the best he has taken. I can try and get more info if you want?

I took it a few years ago. It did have some side effects but overall it is better than most.

What do you want to know?

Side effects, and how long they last, mostly. When are results first noticed? What am I looking for in results?

I've just been really stressed lately and my Dr. thought this would help.

He gave you Effexor for STRESS???

Yeah they use Effexor for stress!

Um, it made me tired at first and I lost my appetite - for me thats a good thing!

The side effects were'nt all that bad though...a bit of nausea but nothing you can't live with, and some lightheadedness but again nothing too bad.....I was on a high starting dose too...

In about three weeks to a month most of the side effects were gone.

A word of warning though.....don't go camping for three weeks and forget to take your meds, its not pleasant going cold turkey!

Licky, I went on Paxil for situational anxiety and stress last year. I don't think it really helped, and it was a bitch and a half to wean it out of my system.

Psychotropic drugs are not to be taken lightly. Have you tried other methods of stress reduction? You know, like exercise, drinking to excess, meditation and/or masturbation? ;)

Wow, you learn something every day!
My friend said the biggest side effect he had was being tired and he could get an erection but couldnt cum, for about the first month or two.

This is what I've been experiencing in the 3 days I've been taking it. Plus, a serious case of insomnia on top of my already restlessness.

I can deal.

yes
no
yes
and YES

;)

I'm only on a very light 1/2 dose.. I don't know that I even need it.. but it can't hurt.

I think your doc is high. Seriously though, this drug may kill your libido. I have done serzone and well butrin which I both liked and neither had the libido problem. Try drinking smoking, exercise and masturbation. They might not work, but they can all be fun.

Your only in the early days, it takes a few weeks for it to settle in your system....by then the side effects should be gone. I didn't even realise that they were going, I just woke up one day and thought "gee I haven't felt tired, or lightheaded for a while...and I'm eating!"

Are you aking them at night or morning...I started at night but swapped to morning (on dr's advice) after having insomnia and I seemed to sleep a bit better.

I didn't have any problems with orgasim as some people do - but I was of the opinion that it effects men in that way more than women.

Sometimes certain drugs sound scary - I know I certainly didn't want to take it at the time...but it worked for me, as ong as your dr has prescribed the right med for you, it will be ok. Just don't rely on it to support you, think of it as being a crutch for a whort while not a life support system.

I have to go but feel free to pm me with any questions you've got. I'll be back on line later.

Ok, babe. Sounds like you know what you're doing. ;)

I felt like crap for weeks coming off the paxil. That's a nasty drug.

I know Prozac killed my sexual AND creative drives. I didn't feel bad so much as felt nothing.

I wish I could remember what the hell they put my sister on that made her see everything as blue one day.

just wondered cuz my hubby was on Zoloft, could get it up just fine, but not cum. heh, i'm sorry, but the eternal hard on is not all its cracked up to be. Now he's on wellbutrin, thank god

I know I feel moodier... I keep wanting to cry in sudden bursts, more than normal. But then again.. Memorial Day is around the corner and I haven't the heart to go face my mom (headstone). Harsh.

My husband was on Zoloft, and it was great for his head. He definitely has a "chemical imbalance" type of depression - ignored it for, gosh, DECADES, and Zoloft changed our lives.

The only side effect was that, like Scarlett Rose's husband, he could get it up, but had trouble cumming. This might sound weird, but he can get himself off if I'm not in the room - he says he has to really concentrate. So, after we have sex, I just leave and he takes over. We've always encouraged each other's "solo activities" so it's no big deal, but I'm one of those women that really enjoys the guy's orgasm. :(

His bro-in-law is a doctor, and a couple of months ago, he recommended he try Effexor. He puts all his patients on it, and says 9 out of 10 love it.

His head is still fine, but at first he was VERY TIRED. Now, that's better, but he has also has a general decrease in libido. The bro-in-law says to wait a few more weeks - he is VERY confident that the side effects will go away. (I am not)

After doing lots of research, I've wanted him to try Wellbutrin, but he doesn't want to try anything else new right now - the tiredness was almost more than he could bear - he has his own business, plus his job is very physical. If the Effexor doesn't start working, he's going back to Zoloft. <sigh>

***I really think that everyone responds differently to every drug, so it's not reliable to go by others' experiences.***

I've been taking 300mg Effexor XR for about two years.

It's a toughie with regard to side effects, but it's also the most effective for depression.

At first I was sleepy (my doc refused to believe me) light headed, had cold feet, loss of appetite and lost completely the abitlity to orgasm.

I was one of the lucky ones, I didnt suffer more serious side effects. No testing has ever been done on a 300mg dose.

I can orgasm again, but it took a lot of work to learn how too. Effexor actually deadens the nerve endings that create an orgasm. So I had to work harder to orgasm, until it gradually became easier. I reckon without Effexor now, I'd orgasm at a touch!

Another thing to remember is that Effexor is addictive. Many thousands of people no longer need to take it, but still do because they can't get off it.

If you're considering Effexor, talk to people and search the net. Find out everything that you can. It's the best there is, but there's also a high price to pay.

I have been taking it.

I started at the 37mg for four weeks it worked but seemed to stall

Doc upped it to 75 that worked about two weeks and stalled.

Now up to 150mg, doc says thats the average dose.

Sideeffects I noticed:

took about 3 weeks to really hit me with anything noticable.

Then when I got tired I had about 15 minutes and I was out, and I needed a minimum of of 12 hours sleep for about 4 weeks.

from the beginning very vivid technicolor dreams

Dry mouth constatnly, can't seem to have enough moisture, i find ice cubes are better than drinking water for that.

halo buzz headaches, not like a sever headache almost just like a tingleing in the form of a halo around the top of the head, just like all the brain cells are firing at once. not painful or obstrcutive.

moodiness, ofrom one minute to the next it can change, I can be crying over taras death and then laughing over it 30 seconds later. Sometimes i tend to get in a state where i take what people say to personally even when I know it wasn't meant or to be taken that way.

Energy picked up, able to do more and last longer doing things.

Wioeght loss, I have lost 30 pounds since april 1st, feels great, metabolism is starting to work again.

Libido acts wierd sometimes. It might be great and then other days its all i can do to get off.

On a good not for weaning things off of Effexor XR is much easier and painfree than regular XR
