Editors Who Don't Reply

Just out of curiosity, what is the general rule for editors that don't reply. Given the season, I realize some may be away from their computers. But I tried three different editors using the editor interface and got zero responses. Is that normal? Since we are supposed to wait 3 days before trying again, that turns into a pretty long wait.

I thought I saw an advisory saying to mention to someone somewhere if editors didn't respond within the 72 hours. But I've been back today and haven't run into it again. So just let it go, hoping that they will be back to help? I'm not angry at all, perhaps a bit frustrated at wanting to get this darn story off my computer and on someone else's maybe. I have sent another request to a fourth editor and I have the name of someone who will edit after the holiday.

I guess patience is a virtue I must learn to cultivate. I seem to be getting enough fertilizer for it.

*Sigh*

You really are not lucky, huh? :(

First you get one who wants you to pay for it and now you try contacting some and nobody answers *sigh*.

Yeah, you're supposed to contact Laurel and let her know if editors on the list don't respond after 72 hours.....personally being the season and everything I'd say give them more like 4-5 days. Usually if they haven't answered after 2-3 days I'd recommend you contact Laurel and tell her the name of the editor, when you sent your request, etc....

Just at the top of my head.....have you tried asking CopyCarver? Snooper? RogueLurker? Kbate? Maybe you could take a look at my List of alternate editors?

Who knows, maybe one of them could be free and willing to help?

Just to add that many editors I have encountered agree to edit but once I've forwarded my work I never hear from them again.

Then you REALLY should complain to Laurel about it. She's the one who's capable of giving them the 'kick in the ass/pat on the back' needed.

Thanks ...

I should really quit whining. I did use the time to rewrite it. Started out at 2000 words roughly and it is now up to 3500 or so. I read a number of threads that made me rethink the genre I was writing in and why. I realize it is not as good as I want on a number of levels but I know roughly what I am looking for. But the whole writing experience is something that I will have to work on.

I will let the holidays slip past and see if I get any editor responses. Everyone needs a break occasionally. I guess I fear I will worry the darn thing to death, nipping and tucking here and there, while the time passes.

Sorry, Mesachie, I am a 67 year old male, and so I find it somewhat difficult to identify with your young female protagonist which is, in part, why I did not respond to your earlier thread. However, if you think I might be able to help (i.e. nobody younger or female offers) my pedigree is at http://english.literotica.com:81/editors/editorpage.php?uid=216094. Rest assured I do not usually fail to reply, even over periods which are other people's religious holidays.

Rewrites are supposed to shrink 20% not grow by 75%. I sent you a PM.
