Editor Woes, or am I impatient?

I have a non chaptered long story (about 25 pages in Word) that I am looking for an editor for. It seems most people I have contacted find it too long, or perhaps they just don't like it, I don't know. Its very frustrating to get replies back from editors and then not hear back from them again or beyond a second email (And I do realize people have lives outside of editing strangers stories). I could handle something even along the lines of 'your story sucks and I don't want to edit it'. Or maybe I'm just impatient and 10 days is average waiting time?

What is your story about? What genre is it? And I do believe that it is wrong for editors to not respond to an author's e-mails.

It's a M/M BDSM *love* story. Following how two men meet and get involved in a relationship, the submissive coming to terms with being not only in a loving relationship, but a kinky one. It's my first large story and I feel I have something good in it.

It isn't really a story you can split in two, at least I don't think so. It's partly why I am looking for an editor, to help with the flow of the story. Also I plan on posting it in a few other places that don't accept chapters.

Have you thought of dividing the story into two and submitting them together as a pair? It's not only editors who baulk at long works, it's the readers as well.

Two nicely connected parts can often shape the events in a more artistic way, and the readers can take on one chapter at a time. If they like the first, they'll read the second - without having to wait a month for the sequel.

25 pages is not too long, right around 10K words...

I think 10 days is not at all too long to wait for a volunteer to edit that many words. Good editing takes time.

But when you've sent your editors questions in the meantime?

Depends on how long ago you sent your question, how many times you've contacted the editors and whether you've allowed for the Easter break or not.

If you cant get it so thqt you get it editted I will try and see if i can find a "break" for you

That is if you want you too
