Having just taken over the College Adventures story, I've been looking through the threads and noticied a few repeated threads and some which are rather pointless. Which leads me to a slight dilemma, I'm quite tempted to remove such threads but I'm not too sure I should.

I would not hesitate to remove them, or fix them. The story will be clearer and you will have fulfilled your editor's role by making any story you edit easier to read.

How do you actually remove an entire thread? I also had a couple of doubles but there was no " remove " option, but I was able to change everthing about the thread......Its title, Its contents, and Its continuing question, making it a new thread entirly, only bummer is the thread credit stays as the original author, even though he/she has an exact duplicate already.

Oh well, if it means I get to fix the story, I'm happy just with that.

I dont have an un-natural urge to see my name in lights!

One of the mods can remove the thread for you, or you could edit the thread to be a different plot line entirely, one that makes sense within the story. Just let me know and I can help you fix it if you want to actually remove some threads.

I've already changed most of the double threads except for one, here are its details: Story...Evelyns here to help...story No#...834. There are 2 threads at the end of one story branch, one called " Back off", the other called " Back off and beckon" but their contents are identical.

If you could remove one of these I would be grateful, thanks :D

Just wanted to say that if there is any duplicates or something else wrong with a thread, just report the thread and we will delete it. It is a lot easier for the mod to find the thread. Just don't forget to add a reason for the report.

Hey thanks for removing the thread ( to the mod responsible ) !

Hey deathofcards I like your new avatar, cerebus was cool but manhunt is killer! I managed to grab a copy before it got banned in Australia.

I see that Manhunt is a video game. So, Australia censors video games?

Yes, but often only after a high ranking person or group ( Parents etc ) makes a big stink about it.

Manhunt got such a rep on playstation, by the time it was realeased for pc it was culled soon after.

GTA:SA just got banned as well, but its far too late, everyone who wanted a copy already has one! ( anyway.......e-bay!)

Possibly the dumbest game to be censored recently ( as in didn't even get in the country) was Leisure Suit Larry. A harmless cartoony game about a cheesy loser trying to get laid.

I cant say I would have purchased that one, but I dont like being voided the choice!

Hmph yes...I think it something I always find irony in...how we, in the end, abuse systems in order to get what we want...no matter how many others are hurt by it [I've heard something recently about NJ banning smoking in your car. WTF? ]

What about the fact this video-game, etc. discussion has nothing to do with Liter. or CHYOO?

Ouch man!

It started with me making a positive comment on a fellow chyoo2's avatar, and the conversation has naturally flowed to where it has, there not being a strict rule that every single post must contain at least 3 nods to chyoo!

I'm sorry ( I'm not really! ) that our conversation bothers you.

P.s.......this folks, is a perfect example of what we're talking about I think! :p

I agree with you, and I do not get where he was coming from. The board is a free speech forum. Talk about whatever you want. This is a public thread. It is not like you hijacked some critical thread. You are free to talk about whatever you want.

Thank you, I do not want to come across as an A**hole, but I thought it needed saying.

You thought wrong.

This is about getting rid of threads, etc.

Nothing about avatars & such things. With all the problems with CHYOO, we don't need threads about such problems getting O-T.

As for "didnt want to come across...", quote for you:

"It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt."--M. Twain, a far better writer than you could hope to be.

*sigh*

This is petty, please dont bother with any more comments towards me as you are on the ignore file.

To everyone else, why is there always one like this? I've got nothing but happy thoughts towards chyoo, I think its a great site in all respects but this chappy is just an angry little boy who needs to sort out his private life and not dump it on me, or others.

Let this be an end to it, back to happy talk! :nana: :nana: :nana: (and dancing!)

Excuse me, but I don't remember you being elected topic police or censor. And why make it a personal attack? There has now been more discussion of the topic being off-topic than of the original excursion into off-topichood. And this discussion happens to be off-topic as well. Isn't that ironic?

Ummmmm one simple question...since the first question was answered fully...then wasn't the initial purpose of the thread completed and therefore leaving the thread open to the fun of sitting here, shooting the shit, having fun, which is afterall the initial and ultimate purpose of Chyoo.
TJ...honestly...I think in the end you blew this out of proportion, honestly the quote from Mark Twain was uncalled for, truly and utterly. As my general rule, things like this are my escape, to have fun and enjoy life, escape the realities of it to relax the mind. I also do have to point out something, video games do deal with Chyoo, as fanficnut/liguy has a video game story out there, quite large too. The fact that it is now brought up that some Australians cannot access certain games may affect this story of his. I know, a tangent, but a true one. But keep in mind, the boards are meant to be somewhat light hearted and enjoyment...if it goes off track it does so, but if the original question needs answering, I am sure many of us would be glad to have answered it again.
Horny-oz...I understand your frustration in TJs comment, but the only thing that comes to mind is, perhaps it would have better been handled in PM instead of on the board?
These are only my opinions, but I find that this became way more blown out of proportion than it should have been. TJ, if you wish to tell me Mark Twain was a better writer than I, I'd agree. But I do not care, as I have fun, and my threads, while often rare, are well received for the most part, and that is all the satisfaction from this place that I need. As far as the problems Chyoo has, in all its years, its finally made a big leap fowards, and for that I prefer to be greatful for that, instead of complain about what else is wrong. Take whatever I say as you want, it will not phase me, believe me...because I know in the end...this is just my escape...not my life, my life is bigger than this.

This is a fair comment and you wont see any more anrgy threads from me!

Onward to happy talk!

( and of course......dancing! :nana: )

You know, I saw an article that proves that the violence rates in the US have gone down since the release of video games. I wish i remembered the article to show you guys :( But its funny, mostly all these people that say that games invoke violence just think that and not actually RESEARCH it. It has been proven that video games act as a release of a lot of rage inside of a person, not GIVE them rage. I just think that most of this is just a way for people to feel superior to someone else, since they have gotten these games banned from other people to play. Or even to make it so you have to be 18+ to play a game. What's funny is that I went to buy a game but i forgot to bring my I.D. so I couldn't buy it. Even though I have a tattoo, which in my state, you have to be 18+ to get, that is not enough to show that you are 18+.

I thot that's what the General & other such boards are for... If thread starts with a question, there's need for answer(s), & maybe even response to answers/thanks for answres,... & then end.

That's your opinion, same as everything I posted (apart from the quote) was mine. We have rights to them, & nothing need be said by one about the other's opinion.

If it affects the story, make a PM to him or put it with the story someplace. Otherwise, it makes no more connection to CHYOO than Tom Delay, which I see is correctly discussed in the General boards.

There are other places on these forums for thsat to happen.

NE1 who sees the question at the start of the thread may read the thread, hoping/wanting to find it answered... No reason they should have to go through multiple posts/pages of unrelated things to find it.

There, we finally agree.

This thread might be about deleting threads. However the owner of the avatar in question and the topic creator are one and the same, so if Horny Oz wants to discuss Manhunt and video game censorship (a subject that interests me being an avid video game fan) then I don't mind it's discussion. The original subject has run it's course as I have come to a decision about what I want to do about the threads in questions... but as long as the original topic was in some kind of discussion during the threads posted I really have no problem with the topic being slightly diverted.
