Hey everyone, I'm looking for an editor for my first story submission. I looked through some of the editors, but the list was just too long and I didn't know where to start. I wasn't sure how many of those editors were still even active.

Basically, I'm planning to only post true stories of what have actually happened to me, and I want to start with my first bisexual experience, which was a threesome with an ex-girlfriend and a guy we met one night.

Let me know,

Jace

You need to have the story written before seeking an editor. Not clear that you do, but, if so, prospective editors will also want to know the wordage of the story. Is it MMF or MFM?

The story is written, it's just a little bit short of 5,000 words. I have emailed about six different editors and the only one who responded said she was too busy at the moment. It is an MMF story.

I could do this one as a one-shot edit (I have as many ongoing authors as I want), if no one contacts you for a longer-term match up. You could PM me (message system at top right of this page) for an e-mail address to attach a Word version to. I'd edit in the Word tracking system and have it back to you within a week.

Thanks sr71, I will definitely message you for the email address, in case no one else is interested in longer-term. Especially since you are also evidently a former AF guy.

Nope, not a former AF guy. A CIA guy. We paid for the Blackbirds and the AF maintained them. The AF flew them where the U.S. didn't want to be involved in undeclared hostilities/war. The CIA flew them elsewhere--as in when I flew, the AF could fly over Vietnam but civilians had to fly over Laos and Cambodia (think Francis Gary Powers and the U2 over the Soviet Union--he had to resign is commission and fly as a civilian there).

The AF was all over Laos/Cambodia like crabs on a LIT lady. Black Spot was parked outside my door at Phan Rang for a while. We called their birds FUC123Ks. As I recall it they dropped fake dog shit along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and monitored the radio activity of the dog shit to ascertain particular supply routes. I knew plenty of AF who augmented CIA pussies in Laos/Cambodia. God made the C123 to get in and out of CIA shit holes. I imagine CIA pussies 'commanded' the aircraft but AF pilots flew them. PILOT prolly flew in the back with the mail sack.

Well, now, here's why some of us don't edit much here. I took on this edit and sent it back to Fatemaster a week ago. Since then he's neither acknowledged that he received the edit nor posted it (or anything else) to the Lit. file. So, what? He wanted a free edit to post elsewhere or just to give to his girlfriend? This is the third time this has happened to me so far this year, so I certainly don't offer to edit anything lengthy.

It happens. Sometimes Litsters only check their Lit-related email periodically. Maybe the author is really busy. Maybe he's dealing with some kind of crisis or it's taking him a while to process or think about the edits. BFD.

This is a free favor they've asked for. Sorry, excuses like that don't cut it with me. This is an adult site, not a babysitting operation. It's probably a generational thing, with recent generations feeling more entitled and needing a lot more coddling than earlier ones did--and more prone to invoking excuses like those.

I agree that you were probably used and I imagine it happens a lot. What was the title? You should go searching smashwords and Amazon etc....maybe he was looking for a freebie.

Maybe something did happen, but hard not to be cynical. I give free sessions for my business all the time in hopes they come back. A few do, but so few I'm thinking of going with a discounted rate so I at least get something.

I will disagree that it is generational. People have always been users and abusers. The net just gives a lot more opportunity for it. So maybe the new generation has a new tool with the web the older ones didn't, but same motives and results.

Well, the authors who have taken a while to respond to my edits are all probably over 50. I don't see where coddling or babysitting comes into this issue, but you're entitled to think what you want. So, listened to any Death Cab for Cutie lately? ;)

I've edited a few writers who claim to be over 35, and they're grateful.

I've edited a couple others who claim to be under 25, and they're not. One gave no thanks, didn't tell me it was posted, etc. The other 'fired' me for taking a day off from editing for my anniversary, thus "failing at my job". (His second, unedited story has nearly a point lower vote score than the first, edited story.)

Generational? Cultural? Personal? I neither know nor care.

Finally answered today that it had been received. Probably after I posted that there had been no response to queries on whether it had been received.

Well I guess we should feel bad for having a low opinion of humanity and our faith should be restored!

Um....Nah.

But glad you got a response and hopefully did not waste your time.
