Hello all,
I’ve been wondering about editing an older story series of mine. A Night with Rachel to be specific. I feel that I didn’t do my best with those, and Ive been writing prelude and follow up to it. I’ve thought about requesting deletion once I’m satisfied with my new work. Is that appropriate or just work around it?

Endless debates on this, some will yes, edit away.

Others (me included) say, learn from the old mistakes, but don't futz with the old story, write the next one. You'll learn more, and you'll have two stories, and then three, then four. Your "best" story will always be the next one, not the last one.

Mind you, if you now have a better quality prelude and a sequel, giving the one in the middle a makeover does make sense.

EB,
Thank you for the response. I think I’ll likely go back and edit them. I want to complete the series, and it’ll be much cleaner. Thanks again.

I rewrote my older stories but left the old ones here. Not my intent but it seems to be how it’s worked out.

You can EDIT the old story by resubmitting the new version with the original title followed by 'EDIT'.

That keeps the original rating and comments.

Just note that on Ogg's post it is the best way to edit a story because it stays live the entire time, the new one replacing the old, but...

It will not show up as a new story so your better edited version may not get too many looks. Then again you said it was a series so maybe it will. In which case it may be worth editing if you think its poor enough to turn people off.

Ogg and LC:

Thank you for the advice. From the response, I don't think the stories were a wart-bearing bit of hideousness, but I think they could be better. I'd like them to reflect the same level of competence that I now possess, if I submit new work on the same line. Thanks again!!!
