Hi all! I've been looking around this forum and the volunteer editing section, and I have a question I can't seem to find an answer for: is the volunteer editor program intended solely for people posting work on literotica.com? I'm an editor/publisher at a (very) small press, and I'm hoping to find a volunteer for editing and slushpile-reading tasks. Would it be considered bad form for me to post my requirements here, or to contact editors from the database directly?

Either way, this is a wonderful community you've got going here! I think it's awesome to see so many writers and volunteers working together like this.

Not only would it be bad form but your 'request' would be deleted. The VEs (Volunteer Editors) are intended solely for Lit's writers.

Although you may of course approach any volunteer editor via Private Message with your request - each VE can decide on her/his own whether they wish to participate in outside projects.

I would not - as, other than the editing I do for Lit writers, I do not edit without pay.

On Board With KBATE

I won't edit stories that I know are intended for posting places other than Lit for several reasons.

First off, I like working with new writers. For them, getting a story approved on Lit is a real accomplishment. It brings me great joy to see them succeed. It pains me to see their pleas go ignored, so I may tend to overextend myself. Luckily not every writer follows up my offer <grateful sigh>

Second, I'm no pro. I catch the obvious mistakes and correct some tendencies (such as using a word repeatedly). But I am equally aware of my limitations. That's why I tend to restrict myself to beginners if given the choice.

I also refuse to get myself involved in a long project that will separate me from the new writers that I'm so eager to help, if they'll allow me the pleasure of doing so.

My plate was full but I've been busily clearing it. So if anyone out there desires my services, they are <briefly, first come - first served) available.
