Editing chapters or editing the entire story

I'm currently working on my next submission -- mind you, it takes me a while to submit (RL always seems to come first, huh).

But I have a question.

As an editor, would you rather I request an editor per chapter (to keep the word count down, and not seem as daunting a task)? Or would you rather have the entire story (to keep the storyline in tact and other issues that may come with different editor's suggestions)?

Word count after 3 chapters is 20,000+ with each chapter being about 7,000.

And, in contrast, I wouldn't edit anything open-ended. A proper work stays the course from beginning to end, and part of a proper editor's work is helping that happen. If you don't know what the end is, how can you evaluate or work on the course? But that's just to say that it isn't really an issue, as there will be those who want it one way over the other.

I don't do single chapters either.
