I read on the site it takes 48 hours to have the edited story put up but it's been 7 days. I have reached out per their instructions but haven't received a response. Is there a problem with the site right now?

Just covering the bases here. It takes up to 48 hours after it's been approved.

Make sure you didn't accidentally save it to the drafts folder instead of submitting. It's easy to do, and I've done it myself a couple of times. Again, just covering bases, because these are things that have emerged as problems in the past.

If it was submitted, and the edit has vanished from the pending folder, and it's been at least 48 hours, try an Alt F5 refresh, just to make sure the cache is clear and you're getting the latest version from the database.

If you're still seeing the old version after checking all those boxes, then something did go haywire. Contrary to popular belief, the email contact does work, but it's behind a rather draconian spam filter, and the confirmation email that you're supposed to use to have your message reach Lit's inbox probably ended up in your own spam folder.

Since you're on the forum, there's a far easier method to contact Laurel ( the only submissions moderator ) Use a PM instead. Make sure your private messaging is turned on here:

https://forum.literotica.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

And then send a PM to Laurel explaining the situation:

https://forum.literotica.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=7

For future reference, the easiest way to locate Laurel's profile is to check the Awards & Contests subforum. Laurel is the thread starter for basically every thread in that section.

Did everything you said to do just in case, but it still is pending.

I sent a PM to Laurel on Wednesday after waiting an extra day (after the 48 hours) for the recent holiday, so hopefully, I will receive something back soon. Is there a ballpark time frame it usually takes for her to get back to you?

I thought about sending a message to have that chapter of the story taken down and just reposting it, but I think that’s basically the route I’m taking now.

Thanks for your help.

Edited stories in my experience taken far longer than at-bat stories. You could always PM Laurel if there’s a pressing reason. She’s pretty reasonable.

I see you joined the site in May, your 6 stories have been submitted since then, and it’s the 6th one for which you’ve submitted an edit.

I don’t know from where you’ve got the idea edits only take 48 hours. I can’t believe you’ve read it anywhere on this site. From my experience, and others, you’re doing very well if the first submission of a story gets through in 48 hours.

It’s been my experience, and apparently the experience every of other writer I’ve ever heard from on this forum, is edits take 7 days or more.

I've re-edited my story and want to replace the posted version with my new edited one. How do I do this?

No problem! Simply submit the new version as you submitted the old one, only adding the word "EDITED" to the title (ex. "My Sexy Firefighter Ch. 03 - EDITED") so that we know to replace the old text with the new text. We will then replace the original text with the new text. Your story will retain its previous voting score and views.

That’s copied from the edited submissions part of the help.

Edited stories take up to 48 hours to appear correctly on the site as the pages must be regenerated by the site scripts. If after 48 hours your submission edits are still not showing, please email us a link to the work in question.

With all due respect to Laurel and Manu that extract regarding edits must have been written over 20 years ago when this site was a baby, and the number of stories submitted each day must have been infinitely smaller than today, and is, like many things on this site, unchanged and very much out of date.

I’m sure when you’ve been on this forum for only a relatively short time you’ll find out there’s a big difference between what’s supposed to happen, what writers would like to happen, and what actually does happen.

How Laurel manages to process the number of stories she does each day, let alone deal with edits and messages, I have no idea but it’s a thankless task I wouldn’t want. That’s not to say every writer on this site doesn’t wish her and Manu would bring in a team of tech people to upgrade the site to suit this decade.

Yep, but that's wrong, unfortunately, and as Emirus notes, not been updated in a couple of decades.

Edits are low priority, especially when there's a contest running (which there is - the Nude Day Contest). They generally take 5 - 8 days, sometimes longer, so seven days is pretty normal.

It really does pay to give your story its best chance by submitting the best copy you possibly can, because by the time it takes for an edit to go live, the damage is done, or the subtle change you've made will have passed by the first set of readers because they'll probably never see it.

A Lit story has one shot at fame, and that's out of the gate, so don't waste it. Looking more closely at your next story is probably a better use of your time, I reckon.
