I submitted an edited version of my story, adding significant details. Until this morning, the edit showed pending, awaiting approval. Then, this morning, the edited version was gone, so I assumed the original had simply been replaced with the new, but it had not. The original version is still posted. Anyone have any idea what I might have done or why this happened?

I don't know, but I would suggest sending a private message, or PM, to Laurel. Make sure you have PMs enabled, then send her a message explaining what's going on.

To send a PM, click on the link at the upper right corner of the screen and put "Laurel" sans quotes in the To: field.

If your PMs aren't enabled, click on "User CP" at the upper left of this page, then on "Edit Options" on the next page, then scroll down and click the box to Enable Private Messages.

It takes a few hours for the edit to show up. The story pages don't update on the same schedule as the author page (which is pretty close to real time).

The delay gets me every time.

Is it my imagination or does PENNLADY do her Munchkin routine every time someone ask a question? FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD! Translation= I DONT KNOW! PM LAUREL.

Thanks. I'll remember that for next time.

Leave it to you to slam someone actually providing help to folks on the forum rather than posting "givemeattentionNOW" threads.

I appreciate the advice - I didn't know how to turn on my PM, didn't know it was turned off. Will wait a few more hours, then PM Laurel to find out why my edited version isn't posted.

Go to User CP at the top left of this page and click. Click on edit options. In the middle of the second section is a box marked turn on PM's. check it and go to the bottom and save changes.

You're good to go.

OK, now they have replaced the 3rd page of a three page story, but left the 1st two pages unchanged. Wrecks the whole thing. I have PM'd Laurel, waiting for a reply how to fix it

Sandy's hubby here (so I don't log her off).

Perhaps you looked just as they were updating the file. Each page is a separate update. There is time between each move. Look again.

Just hang in there. Sounds like it's in process. :)

Edits don't become visible immediately, and may process in bits and pieces.

Usually, withing 24 hours of the "edited" submission vanishing from your private author list, all of the changes will be visible on the public version.

You all are obviously correct. Here it is nine hours later and page 1 and 3 have now been updated. I kinda assumed it would be all at once

It's something to do with the way the site is cached. It's only been happening for a few years now. Edits used to be visible immediately back in the day.

I had a bit of a panic attack the first time one of mine didn't change as well. Luckily, I had to go into work, and by the time I got home, it was all correct. Then I watched the next one and figured out exactly what was going on so I could pass it along when the question popped up.

Patience is a virtue. I learned that from the Nestlé Quik rabbit. Too bad it's so damn hard to wait! Glad it worked out. Good luck!
