Edited Stories Disappeared

I recently submitted slightly edited versions of two stories already posted-up here on Lit. They went through the typical review process (so it seemed) for a few days and collected a count of fifty or sixty downloads, then they simply vanished. There was no notice of rejection and the original story and changed description were not updated.

I have made official inquiries about the vanishing, but haven't heard back yet. Will post any answers I get. I'm not being critical here at all... I know how busy site management is and I appreciate to no end the wonderful site they provide us for free.

Anybody know what might be going on with this problem of edited stories disappearing?

Also, I would love to hear the inside scoop on the story review process, what happens between the time an author submits a story and it is either accepted or rejected, for both new and edited stories.

I'm a bit of a newbie as far a posting stories on Lit goes as well as with the AH section of the forum. If these issues have been addressed here previously, would someone be kind enough to post up a link to the answers? I looked some, but didn't see anything.

Thanks

Chad

Give it at least 24 hours after the "edited" submission vanishes before worrying. For some reason, the changes requested in edits don't appear on the public side immediately.

Wait a day, and then check the original submission to make sure that the changes have been applied.

Depending upon how extensive the changes are, all the changes may not appear at the same time either. They may dribble out a little bit at a time over a brief period before all the changes are all reflected through the whole story.

Some edits applied

Thank you... I just checked and some of the changes have been applied to at least one of the stories that was submitted with edits about ten days ago. Interestingly, a typo misspelling corrected by a replaced description has not been. I just assumed if the description wasn't updated the story hadn't been either.

I appreciate the quick response and insight, Darkniciad.

When you submitted the edit, did you note that you wanted to change both the description and the story? If not, they (Laurel?) may not have noticed that the description had changed, and may not have even known that you wanted to change the description.

Even if you did note it, I've noticed that it can be hard to change more than one thing at a time. I've submitted edits that changed both the tags and the story in the same go (I used to not know I could assign my own tags ), and made note of both in the notes field, but sometimes the edited tags got missed.

So . . . if you really want the description to change, you may need to do it in a standalone edit.

I didn't note both the description and text changed

Tat,

Thanks for the excellent insight, Tat. It appears you have described my mistake exactly. In my comments to the web master, I did not draw attention to the fact that I had changes the description as well as the text and tags. I have now also learned that tags are what I was previously thinking of as "story codes."

I greatly appreciate your helpful post.
