Hi there!

I'm a rather new author on this site and I'm still getting used to how everything works. I am aware of how to publish and delete stories, but I want to edit the titles of some stories without deleting them and removing all votes and comments. I also want to polish up the stories with slight revisions.

The three stories are all part of one series, but they have three different names. Now I know to name a story and add Pt.1, Pt.2, etc. to the same story title to keep it consistent.

The FAQ shows this:

"Simply submit the new version using the same method you submitted the previous one (as a new story), only adding the word “EDITED” to the title (ex. “My Sexy Firefighter Ch. 03 - EDITED”) so that we know to replace the old text with the new text. We will then replace the original text with the new text. Your story will retain its previous voting score, views, favorites, and comments.

Note: If “Story Title - EDITED” does not fit in the title field, simply type “STORY EDIT” in the title field. In the Note to Admin field, type the full title of the story to which the new edit should be applied."

Will this work for all three stories? I will need to edit them one by one since all my titles are too long and I can only have one submission of "STORY EDIT" at the same time. Thank you.

Best,

Resubmit using each existing title, shortened to include EDIT at the end. Then put the new title in the Notes to the Editor.

Don't make the title too long, though. The site has a 35 character default length, which can be extended - but the site still prefers the title to stay on one line.

Each story has its own identity in the data base, so you should be able to submit multiple edits, just as you can submit more than one story at the same time.

This is super helpful. I assume this works for any edits to a story, not just the title, correct?

Correct. Edits take a while though, they're low priority. 2 - 3 weeks is typical, but can be longer. Unless I've made some diabolically stupid mistake, I don't bother with edits. We all have typos or technical goofs, and they're a lesson to do better next time.

Thank you. As a newbie, I appreciate the advice.
