Edit profile url redirecting

Even if you manually type in the url for editing your profile, which ends with =editprofile, it automatically redirects you to the email and password page, with a url ending with =editpassword. This leads me to believe there is a line of programming on the editprofile url that tells browsers to redirect to the editpassword url. This should be a simple fix, which also leads me to conclude the process is completely intentional. I assume the motivation for that might be server bandwidth or some other technical complication requiring access to the editprofile url to be blocked, but can anyone confirm this or advise us when this functionality will be restored?
