I got $1500. I paid off a credit card thereby stimulating my economic comfort zone.

I filled the gas tank on my truck, bought a weeks worth of groceries, filled my prescriptions, went to a movie and bought popcorn. :D

And had enough left for two packs of gum!

I entered into two $100 poker tournaments so far. I have another $400 left :D

Part to pay taxes. The rest to hire a carpenter to do a little work around the house.

So far 5/7 for bills and staples (plus ~$20-40 for a movie, popcorn and gum).

With 2/7 for for non-necessary items. (A deck is certainly nice to have, though.)

Didn't spend it. It went into the bank. I may retire one the interest that will accumulate on $600

economic stimulus payment? What the hell is that and how do I get one?

You have to be an American.

And accept that your kids are going to have to pay for your good fortune as this adds to an already enormous federal deficit.

It involves standing around on street corners in tight fitting pants and tops - you don't really want to go there.

I might! :D

Seriously, it's just some dosh the government gives you? Why don't they put it into healthcare or something?

Because in the U.S. public healthcare is considered communistic.

mmm well it's true. They'd never let me in:rolleyes: Seems dumb giving a wodge of cash to people to go and gamble, get drunk on and snort coke with though

It is baffling. But it's a Republican feel good band-aid in an election year, which is the main reason.

A few years ago we got tax rebates to stimulate the economy. Then had to include the rebates as income and pay taxes on it.

The past tense of pay is paid, not payed.

Like you, I reduced the balance I used it to temporarily get out of debt -- but I finally had to buy gas, so the balance is back up to $60. :(

Ugh. Unexpected, costly visits to the dentist for youngest daughter and to car repair shop!

My better half and I haven't gotten ours yet but, assuming we do, it will go to pay down or pay off credit cards.

True, but there's a reason it has to be done this way:

Other ways of stimulating the economy are sexual; that could push the economy to dig a hole beneath the fence and attempt to mate with the economy of Canada. Who'd be responsible for the puppies? So long as most people are reluctant to have the economy surgically neutered, sexual stimulation is out of the question.

No, it has to be done this way. I just wish my check would be enough to buy some health insurance. That would be stimulating as all get-out.
