Is a program that we have where the folks from the home office come out to the field to learn first hand the effectiveness, (and sometimes the lack of it,) of the programs and decisions that they have sent down to the stores. It’s a good idea, putting the home office in direct contact with the field, so that they can see how the rubber meets the road.

This week I have had Store Planning in to “help” redo the Toy Department. They have actually been more a pain in the ass then help. They insist on following the plan-a-gram exactly, until we find something that just won’t work. Then the real fun begins. For instance, they had allocated 14 inches to an item that was 18 inches long. Normally, I would just move things around until I found the extra space. Not this week. We’ve had to fill out a three-part “correction of errors” form with an exact description of the problem, then move things around until we found the extra space, and finally fill out another form with an exact description of the solution. I understand how this well help fix the problem for other stores, but it still means that I’m getting half as much done in twice the time.

OK, I’m done ranting now, it was a long night.

why easy when we can have it the difficult way?

:D

for example im doing a double major degree and im a finalist.... now if im ill i have to go the faculties office and fill in form stating why i have been absent. because i do a double major (in department X & Y) i have to fill in three copies, one for department X, one for department Y, and for my own file.

now last semester i did a course outwith my two departments (Let's call it department Z), hence i had to fill in a form each department, one to be put into my file, an additional one for the secretary of department Z notifying her that although im a student, im not actually full-time enrolled in her department, one for my professor from the Z department stating why i was ill (thats sensible, and about the only sensible thing about it), one for my department X (that was the pink form) stating why i didnt miss any courses (because im doing my course in department Z this semester) and one for my supervisor letting him know that i was planning to return to my studies.

mind you, i was ill for a WHOLE day from food poisoning.... I know it was a mistake to do a course in department Z instead of a course in department X to start with...

Oh gee, Sam, thank you so much for the lovely flashbacks of mod change hell. ;)

I'd rather inventory fishing lures than reset sporting goods.

And here I thought this story would be set in the kitchen! Sorry you had such a rough night, Sammy. At least those bullies are only there one week.
