Hey all! How're things going on the LitBB these days? I drop in from time to time -- mainly to read the stories -- but sometimes to see the title threads and find out if anything interesting is going on, then I go back to the real world where I tend to not be so obsessive.. hehe

Question: Easter egg hunts have been a part of my life since I was a very young child. I remember one in particular that I went to in Tellico Plains when I was just 7 or 8. It was held at this camping resort and kids from all over the area were set loose to discover eggs hidden in tall grass, tree limbs and tucked under river rocks. If you were one of the lucky ones, you discovered special "prize eggs" that held money or gift certificates for special items.

I happened to find one such "prize egg" that gave me a certificate for a new pair of shoes. I will never forget the joy I felt at having found such a special egg, and will never forget the pair of black patent leather shoes I wore to church every Sunday as a token of that prize!

Each Easter our family holds a very special Easter egg hunt at my Grandmother's house (she's 92). We now have 10 children who participate in this event and we hide around 300 eggs stuffed with candy and *prizes* for them to find. It is so much fun to watch them run from the house when we say "GO!" and frantically try to find as many eggs as they can! :)

Do you have such memories of Easter? Share, please!

I remember when my drunk aunt talked me into stealing the Reeses eggs out of everyone else's basket and bringing them to her.

Laurel *laughing*

Well now, that wasn't the response I necessarily anticipated, but informative nonetheless. :)

so, did you steal them? did she eat them? Did she stomp on them? What? c'mon, inquiring minds want to know!

I learned when I was young how to make an Easter bunny cake out of two small round ones. One is the face; the other is cut into three pieces to be the ears and bowtie. Then you ice and decorate the face, ears, and bowtie with whatever (chocolate morsels, jelly beans, marshmallows, coconut flakes). I always make these for friends or family during the Easter season. Actually later this morning I'm having little friends (kids of my friends)over and we're going to make a cake together for them to take to their family for Easter. This is special 'togetherness' seasonal activity versus just making them an Easter basket.
